Ex-Toronto Mayor Ford not doing well

The antics of Toronto’s Mayor Rob Ford were well-documented in this thread 3 years ago:

Toronto’s alleged crack smoking mayor. Why is he still in office?

Then, as he was running for re-election in the 2014 municipal elections, he was diagnosed with a particularly ugly and aggressive form of cancer, as outlined towards the end of this thread: Toronto Mayoral Race, 2014

He withdrew from the mayoral race and instead ran for his old seat of city council, winning it handily, while his brother was defeated in the mayoral race.

News reports sound like he’s not doing well with the cancer battle:

Rob Ford’s cancer not responding to latest chemo treatment, staffer says - Toronto councillor and former mayor at Mount Sinai Hospital with ‘his family beside him’

The original tumours were removed by what is termed in the article “aggresive surgery” but now he had tumours on his bladder.

I’m not at all versed in medical matters, but none of that sounds good.

Best wishes, Mr Ford, and to your family (he has a wife and young kids). :frowning:

Hey, listen. As much of an embarrassment as Rob Ford was to Toronto, and all of Canada actually, he’s a human being with a family.

I hope he gets the care and treatment he needs to get over this hurdle in life. It does not sound good, but I hope he comes through this.

What else needs to be said?

ETA: And as dumb as I may sound, when representing his constituents, I thought he did a good job!

Ford has died: Rob Ford, Toronto ex-mayor, dies aged 46 from cancer - BBC News

Ford was an effective councillor in some ways, largely in that he was very good at assisting constituents with problems they had with the city they could not solve themselves, largely because his wealth and lack of other things to do gave him the time to do it, and he was persistent. He was in fact so good at it that people from other wards would ask him for help. Since such people are disproportionately poor or lower working class that’s one of the reasons he did so well with them when voting time came around, despite being himself born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

That really was all he was ever good at, God rest his soul. Well, that and talk radio, I guess. He was a bad mayor and it was a dreadful idea for him to even try to get the job.

I feel bad for his family and wish cancer on no one but will not pretend he was a good person. He simply was not; he was an abusive bully.

I hear he’s in stable condition.

Only if he’s embalmed.
