He has just announced that he will not be running for re-election this fall. So he will be out of politics when his term expires.
He had a stomach tumor, although it is not yet know if it is malignant.

Just nuts, I have to say TO politics have been beyond what I thought possible with Ford. Maybe he can get well and the city will gain some respectability. The whole thing has been surreal. And embarrassing plus.
I am not sure but they are showing the clerks office and someone may have just filed papers on behalf of Doug Ford ( Rob Ford’s brother) for mayor, so this nonsense may not be over, yet.
Yep. Doug Ford is taking his place.
oh dear oh dear, now it seems we may have spoken to soon apparently Rob is running for ward 2 and M Ford withdrew to make that possible.
This is like the McKenzey brothers show on SCTV.
Only instead of being funny it’s sad and pathetic.
Quicksilver,
It is sad and pathetic, however your comment is hilarious.
Rob Ford is the worst thing to happen to Canada in decades. Lucky, lucky, lucky bastards.
A sad day for comedians worldwide.
Bob and Doug McKenzie
Rob and Doug Ford.
Yep.
Hosers.
Jimmy Kimmel is probably quite distraught.
I know I am. I need the laughs.
He’s not quitting politics.
His nephew, Mike Ford, was running in Rob Ford’s old Toronto councillor seat in Etobicoke. Mike has withdrawn from that race, and Rob Ford has filed nomination papers. Since that is his old seat where he is very popular, I assume the thinking is that he’ll get re-elected there, even if he’s not able to campaign much over the next month, and then the Ford Bros. will be back at Toronto City Council, just in different chairs.
There is a thread on it in the Elections forum.
Here’s the most recent CBC article:
Hmm…reminds me of the Ford family of politicians from Memphis. Only with a little more drugs and a little less graft.
