Just in case- from two weeks ago(long after this thread was last opened). As for astroturf, how 'bout 5+ year old pics being used to show Americans how huge the 9-12 events were?
Wearing empty holsters to protest not being allowed to wear full ones.
I have never encountered or even heard of that form of protest and I doubt most people have.
So? The OP didn’t ask for only famous types of protest. I think when authorities ban a form of protest, it was getting attention.

FTA was short for “f*ck the army”. Grunts in the muck, many of them relatives, would ink it on their helmets or field gear as a visual form of protest. Made it a little hard to explain to Granny in the photos sent home -------- but all the rest of us enjoyed it.
I can’t believe they put somebody throwing a shoe at GWB next to Marian Anderson singing at the Lincoln Memorial. I mean, really?
