Yeah, bonus tracks are pretty much de rigueur these days, but this seems like a bigger deal than usual… ten tracks, seven of which are entirely new. I’ve heard three so far:
“Plundered My Soul” – this seems to be the one getting all the airplay. Pretty solid, and it’s kind of neat that they brought back Mick Taylor to add guitar.
“Follow the River” – nice, but the lyrics seem a bit generic… you can tell this is a case of “OK, I’ve got this instrumental track, I need to write a set of lyrics for it”.
“I Ain’t Signifyin’” – based on one listen, I loved this.
The bottom line is that it probably makes sense that these were left off the original LP, but still, it’s a major windfall for fans of early-70s Stones.
