There are some very good foreign TV shows available on YouTube, which will never air in other countries… If your’e getting jaded with the usual stuff you watch, see what you can find and share it with is.
There is a beautiful Ethiopian series called Ketezegaw Dose, with several episodes on YouTube. It’s a crime re-enactment show, very slick production, excellent acting, nearly all done in grainy pantomime with voice over narration. Amharic only, no subtitles, but you can infer quite a lot. If nothing else, it is a ringing travelogue of Addis Ababa, its people and lifestyle, with lots of gritty realistic exteriors. (I was there last summer, it’s right on, nothing sugar-coated.)
This is one of the most impressive TV productions I’ve ever seen, definitely worth a look.
