I clicked on an ad, and found this site, which has some really beautiful dresses. I recently went shopping looking for stuff like this and it just didn’t exist in my area. However, some reviews I’ve seen on the web are scary. I know some ladies here have purchased there before, but those posts were from a few years ago…so if you’ve tried them, will you please tell me how it worked out for you?
I’ve made seven purchases from them - five dresses, two skirts - and I have been very satisfied. Two dresses fit perfectly, are very comfortable, and have earned me many compliments. Two dresses (the sleeveless ones) are a little long in the shoulder-to-bust for me (a measurement eShakti doesn’t ask for) so I had to take them up myself. Well, one I just got earlier this month and I haven’t done the work yet. The other one I took up myself, wore the dress to a wedding, and got many many compliments AND was reasonably comfortable outdoors for hours on a muggy day. One dress turned out to have a much higher waist than I had thought (the dress wasn’t shown on a model on the website) and made me look like a 34-year-old trying to play Shirley Temple, so I returned it, which went smoothly.
Both the skirts fit perfectly and have earned me many compliments. I paid the extra fee to customize the waist on one.
I’m lucky that my measurements are pretty much dead-on for one of the preset sizes, but my partner has made custom-sized orders that have turned out very well.
I’ve also bought several dresses from here, and I’ve never had a problem. I always get the default sized dresses. I’ve even emailed their CS department with questions about sizing/fabric, and they’ve gotten back to me within 24 hours. It always ships fast, and once you order they send you lots of discount codes.
My only mild complaint is that the fabric seems to wrinkle extremely easily on all of them. Also, they do air-vac-seal the packaging, so you basically get a tiny envelope with a super-flat dress in it, and it’s kind of a wrinkled mess when you first take it out.
I haven’t actually measured myself yet, but I’m hoping I’ll be reasonably close to one of the pre-made sizes. The customizing part makes me nervous.
I really like that so many of the dresses are cotton, and a decent length. I will be happy to iron!
Okay, y’all gave me the nudge I needed. I ordered this one today, so I’ll let you know how it goes!
I ordered two dresses on April 26, they just shipped them yesterday. I had to E-mail them 3 times and call once before they got back to me… I hope it is worth the wait.
That sounds like a lot of other reviews I saw. I was hoping they’d gotten their act together.
My dresses just arrived and I love one and like the other.
This is the one I like. It has pockets, which I wasn’t expecting, so that bumps it up a notch.
Fit okay? Nice fabric? Well-made seams?
I ordered my wedding dress from them last Saturday (budget wedding so budget dress) and about 3 days after the order I got an email saying that they’re rather delayed on production right now, and that they’ll credit me back for the inconvenience once they know how many days longer than promised it will take. The email said that right now the average is ten days of processing before shipping. But I ordered a customized dress, so it’s possible standard sizing is going out faster.
I know my mom has bought at least something from eShakti before and been happy with it, though for the life of me I can’t recall what.
My wife had a very unpleasant experience with them, but they resolved it sorta okay.
She ordered about $300 worth of clothing from them. It took about two weeks to ship (missing the date for the opera she was ordering a dress for, but she knew she was pushing it).
They shipped through DHL, and we still have no idea what happened to the package. The delivery driver claimed he left it inside an automatically locking alleyway door. A, it locks. B, why use an out-of-sight common back door instead of the main entrance with our apartment number?
The package was either stolen within 3-4 hours of delivery or never delivered. My wife contacted DHL, and they were…not merely unhelpful but borderline insulting. The delivery driver actually showed up at our building, scolded my wife, and made her feel vaguely unsafe.
She contacted eshakti, and they agreed to a full refund. She desperately wanted them to simply reship the order, but their lineup had changed and they were no longer offering several items, including a winter jacket she really, really, really wanted.
Beautiful! And pockets…wow. Just as if women were real people with their own keys and money!
The fabric on the red dress is a bit stiff, but I think that will change with washing, but the owl dress is so soft. And I just discovered pockets in that one too! They were hiding in all the lovely swishy fabric.
I have no complaints with the construction, and all in all I think I would order from them again, but just realize that it will take much longer than advertised to get the order.
My two year old wants me to wear the owl dress every day, owls are her favorite.
Got an email from them today:
Thank you for your order with eShakti.com. Today is the 4th business day from the date of your order. Due to a dramatic rise in recent order levels, we are experiencing a production delay of approximately 10 days from the scheduled ship dates.
We take responsibility for this, and upon shipping your order, we will compensate you by crediting your credit card account. This discount will be reckoned by the number of days of delay. Upon shipment of your order, we will notify you of the credit.
This is not a substitute for timeliness, and it will be our endeavor to quickly get back to shipping orders per schedule. Thank you for your patience.
Fortunately, I was prepared to be patient.
Dung, I placed an order yesterday after finding eShakti thanks to this thread. . . . if other dopers have done the same, it’s your fault that they are now backlogged.
I have some pajamas from Target that have owls just like that!
I’m just helping to stimulate the economy! Let us know how everything works out…
Update. My order from May 26 shipped out June 14. I should have received it on Monday but DHL was not given my apartment number and so it’s been a game of tag trying to get it updated. Hopefully none of you have the same shipping frustrations.
I just got an email from them this morning that my order placed May 31 should ship out by June 25. Geez, I ordered a regular size, no customization…just smack a label on it, people!
This does not bode well for my order made on June 6.
