Goddess of love, old-school style–it’s one of Aphrodite (Venus)'s epithets.

I lurked about before signing on and I noticed that the SDMB has many strong personalities and notable posters. Me, I’m just some fucking new guy making noise.

During the summer between fifth and sixth grade, a girl moved next door to me. She was very pretty then and became more and more beautiful as the summers rolled by. We grew close over the years, first walking to the school bus stop together, then making trips to a local Dairy Queen, and even doing our Christmas shopping together. For over a decade, I was madly in love with her, but was never able to build up the courage to tell her how I felt. It’s still somewhat of an ongoing saga, but I created this name back in 2001… back when my heart still fluttered uncontrollably when she was near, or whenever just a mere thought of her crept into my mind. Our greeting for each other, whoever initiated first, was always, “Hi, neighbor!” She’s still my neighbor, albeit working on her Master’s a hundred miles away, but this name will always pay homage to what we had, and still, what we someday might be.

Been living in Nevada and the Mid East most of my life… and for a few years had no fixed address… just roaming the world with a backpack and a laptop to run my business from.

Technically, it means “foot writer”:

ped (foot) + scribe (a writer)

But I just chose it because I liked the way it sounded and it was completely unique.

Harmswai=

a play on “harm’s way”

where I seem to find myself every 18-20 years :smack:

“He”?

Mine is short for Wednesday Evening in the Twilight and the Gloaming, the name of a character in one of Carl Sandburg’s Rootabaga Stories. I didn’t think I could get the whole name to fit, so I shortened it to Wednesday Evening.

Yup.

Mines 'cos I’m tasty and nice.

Plus I go well with crackers

Mmm, I just had the most wonderful NE clam chowder the other day. I want to eat you up. Unless you are of the chicken corn type.

Mine comes from the website www.tvgohome.com. It’s the name of one of the made-up directors of a spoof TV listings magazine.

Final Fantasy 4, the video game. Spelled FuSoYa, but that’s way more annoying to type than fusoya (if I’m gonna eliminate the shift key, might as well eliminate completely!). I began using that screen name on Prodigy in late 1992, appropriately enough in a Final Fantasy bulletin board. The name stuck…although FF4 (see the thread about the DS remake) is still my favorite RPG ever.

I just picked something I knew would help me score with chicks.

The poison tooth Dr. Huey gave Duke Leto so he’d have a chance to assassinate the Baron Harkonnen. I like Herbert and Lynch and Stockwell too, so why not?

every human has their price…make me an offer.

Here I am back in the day, when I was a dancer.

After Emily Litella, a character on Saturday Night Live played by Gilda Radner. I’m a major fan of hers.
It seemed to me a lot of times when I’d post I’d have a “Me too!” enthusiastic frame of mind and I’d happily post. Later on realize that my post really wasn’t all that closely related to the OP. Then I’d have a mental “Nevermind” moment.
