Exposing Pedophiles online?

An entire website devoted to outing online chat perverts who prey on pre-teens, etc. Is this a good idea, legal and/or a “good idea”? I think it’s great, but am wondering if these fellows are setting themselves up for problems, legally speaking. What sayest thou?

It doesn’t smack me as very professional, either in the practices or in the web design and writing. I’d think they could potentially be in legal trouble, but I don’t know much about privacy laws.

What if someone went online with another person’s name or photo on their chat profile, and then chatting lewdly with other people, representing themself as that other person. Unless these people are able to get real identities through IP numbers and service providers as the record labels did (which would be another invasion of privacy), then what do they have to go by other than a Yahoo profile that anyone could make?

The best way to deal with pedophiles is to be very observant about what your children do online, and to report any lewd online behavior to real law enforcement authorities.

Man, there are some SICKOS on that site.

Yeah, but a guy who pretends to be a little girl and says “ya” and “u r cute” and “wow!” while some deluded pedophile turns his crank doesn’t seem exactly unsick to me. I couldn’t make it through the first chat before I quit the site.

Did anyone notice the site is sponsored by something called “The Super Patriots Network”?

I’m with eli_the_fanatic: Everyone involved with that site has issues.

Which is sicker: someone with an uncontrollable sexual attraction to children who engages in internet fantasies, or someone who gets off on an enormous power trip centered around trying to ruin the lives of the former group.

Yeah, pedophiles who actually act on their fantasies deserve punishment and whatever treatment can be provided. But until they actually act on their fantasies and show up to meet someone, I don’t think they deserve to have their lives ruined.

The potential for raw slander is enormous. I vote the site as a 6 on the sick scale itself, and agree with metacom otherwise.

Many (if not most) of the chats boiled down to a “14-year-old girl” seducing a youngish (20-24) adult male. Instead of encountering girls who would be resistant to such a relationship (realistic), the males find the girls willing and aggressively flirtatious.

Somtimes the “victim” even suggests that the “wannabe pedophile” (their term) should go ahead and do society a favor by committing suicide.

All in all, I’d say it’s a rather irresponsible and immature effort. But whatever.

there have been MANY times I have gotten a chat

cutie420: “I’m 14 wanna chat!”
me: “well, I’m 22, so maybe not”
cutie420 “what do you look like”
me: like a person
cutie: are you cute???
me: no
cutie: u have a girlfreind!???
… time passes
cutie: talk to me!!!
C: come on!!!
M: what?
C: you have a girlfreind
M: yes
C: I’m naked!
M: uh huh
C: I wanna suck your cock
M: thats nice…
time passes
C: I am haveing sex with you
M: uh huh
C: my breasts are DDDDDDDDDDDD
M: uh huh, thats sure big.
C: I love to suck dicks!
M: good to know.

I mean, it seems this is not nearly a rare occurance on some messageing systems. I don’t know why I answer… its always just ‘uh huh’ ‘yep’. I always suspect its not real kids. not really sure what the point is, but it happens alot.

like where the conversation is amazeingly sexual in nature, but entirely due to the things the ‘14 year old’ says. not because I say anything bad… or anything with ANY substance. I really should just block them I do fear someday that someone will ask “wanna have sex” and I will respond “uh huh, whatever you say” or something and it will be taken out of context and made to look like I am the evil baby lover. or something.

Apparantly the key to being a convincing “14 year old girl” is to say “lol” after every sentence no matter how depraved the kiddie troller’s comments become.

It’s probably best just to assume that the “14 year old” is really a 45 year old FBI agent named Ed. Ask him how his wife and kids are doing.
