There is a product called EyEnvy that gets rave reviews for helping lashes and eyebrows grow to be fuller.
Mascara is an individual preference, I wear glasses a lot of the time, so I prefer “Volumizing” mascara over “lengthening” since they brush against my glasses if I use the latter.
As I get older I have more eyebrow hairs that are growing straight out instead of flat against my brow. I haven’t done myself any favors by over tweezing either. I can’t even fill them in anymore without looking like a 2nd grader did it because my near eyesight is shit. I’ve gotten to the point where I barely even bother with makeup anymore. I’ve considered getting them tattooed, but I’m even more afraid of a botched job.
You can try some brow wax, even a light formula mustache wax. By tamping down the hairs regularly, they can sort of be trained to lay down better. Trimming is also a thing. I don’t pluck mine aside from maybe three on each side, but I trim them with tiny scissors every few days.
I call my brows “Rooneybrows” because they grow like uncontrolled weeds. For some odd reason, my left eyebrow grows about twice as fast as the right one. Also the left brows hairs are about half snow white, and the right’s aren’t. If I cared enough about it, I’d weep with despair.
FWIW, here’s what I do. When I get a hair cut I ask the cutter to mow them back (basically the same instructions I give about the hair on top of my head). Between, when they start poking down into my eyes or my field of vision (and they do), I step in front of a mirror with a small pair of scissors and hack away at them. I don’t particularly care about the aesthetic outcome.
I get the ‘Andy Rooneys’ every few months. My solution: I have a ‘shoe’ on my clippers that sets the height. I just run the clippers over my eyebrows.
ETA: I see I’m not the only one making an Andy Rooney reference. Mine aren’t actually that bad; just a few long hairs.
Forgot to mention that I absolutely cannot stand trimming my eyebrow hairs. I can’t stand the feeling of the blunt end of the hairs. If I can feel it’s different that the rest I have to yank it out. Insane, I know. I’m a weirdo.
Not weird. Trust me, I have seen weird. Try brow wax, clear mascara or gel and style them. I find a clean mascara wand works a bit better than a brow brush.
I was going to mention the patience part. It’s taken a good 6 months for the woman I see to get my brows to a shape I think is perfect. The hairs grow at different rates and are at different stages of growth, so it makes sense that getting shaped isn’t just a one-and-done thing.
For grooming, I love Anastasia Dipbrow pomade. It’s a colored pomade that fills my sparse spots in and tamps down any strays. I brush it on with an eyeliner brush, then comb through with a spoolie. Love it.
I just mean that, at least for me, it’s more difficult to remove waterproof which then requires more rubbing, etc. and I would think someone with already sparse lashes would want to avoid inadvertently pulling out any more. I have no evidence, just my experience with waterproof. Sorry; didn’t mean to alarm you.
I think if you use a good remover and are gentle, you should be okay. Close eye. Put remover-soaked pad on eyelash area. Hold it there for 30 seconds. Gently wipe. Should get most of it off that way.
Oil-based removers work best for removing waterproof mascara without pulling out lashes. I find Pond’s makeup wipes are good, too.
(I have allergies, so I always wear waterproof mascara. Haven’t pulled out a lash in years.)
