Eyebrowless--a good or bad new fad?

Well, yeah, that’s why I mentioned yours was natural. Did I offend you by using the word condition or something? I couldn’t think of another term on the fly and since that word doesn’t really fit, I put it in quotes. Or is this a miscommunication by lack of voice inflection?

(Missed your post above, Freudian Slit. Apparently great minds think alike and use similar wording.)

Makes me think of these 80+ women who, because they’ve plucked their brows so much for so long, have only as much brow as their pencil allows for. More along the lines of “walking mummies with Parkinson’s” than any kind of sexy. There’s one in Mom’s parish who’s been using the same makeup for at least the last 35 years (which is how long I’ve known her), but the lines have been getting squigglier.

My eyebrows will stay where they are, thank you much.

In Chicago now it’s real popular for men to shave a slice off their eyebrows, so they have a “cut” in it.

Some schools are now considering this a gang symbol and refuse to allow students with the eyebrow slit back in. So the student has to shave his eyebrow off or wait till it grows back.

Iggy pop shaved one of his eyebrows once before a show. The sweat from his forehead went into his eye and made it hard to play. Those things are there for a reason people!

What I meant was that, rather than the condition being intentional on the part of the model, it was a Photoshopped picture. (I’ve seen that picture of Anna Kournikova; she really has eyebrows. Not a LOT of eyebrow, but they’re there.)

So there’s natural, there’s plucking/shaving/greasepaint, and there’s Photoshop.

(Not offended. Off to store to find dark blonde eyebrow pencil.)

Anything that can make a trend-worshiping easily visible from a distance in a reasonably embarrassing way is probably a good thing, unless it really takes off and normal people start doing it.

I am willing to do this for you guys in the name of science, and even post before and after pictures.

Since I have thick black eyebrows and a fairly deep tan on the non-hairy bits of my face, it ought to be… interesting. So, should I do it?

One of my teammates shaved his eyebrows (along with legs, arms, etc.) before a swimmeet. It was half a year before he’d grown them back.

He might not’ve been typical, Really Not All That Bright, but do you really want to risk it yourself? <insert obvious username joke here>

My eyelashes and eyebrows held on as long as they could, but they finally gave up after chemo. For awhile there I couldn’t wear mascara (nothing to brush it on!) and had to pencil in my eyebrows. I haven’t had to cut my hair yet, but I’ve had 2-3 brow waxes since.

When I was a teenager I worked in a grocery store. There was a woman who had eyebrows drawn on in what looked like blue ball point pen, straight across each eye. It looked very odd.

I double dog dare you.

Erk.

I’m getting married in 9 months. What if they don’t grow back? I… I need to consider the ramifications of this experiment further, I think.

I never realized the eyelashes could fall out too. What was that like? Did you get a lot of crud in your eyes? Did it feel strange when they grew back?

Hmm, good point. Better just shave one of them.

Maybe I could just shave the bottom edge off one and the top edge off the other. Give myself a permanent People’s Eyebrow.

gasp

I have invisible, pale eyebrows, too, and like to emphasize them a little with makeup so that I at least have some semblance of expression.

I think the trick I learned from my mom is the most natural-looking of all. Find some cake mascara (it still exists - I found some online!) in your color zone. Moisten the brush and get just a little teeny bit of mascara on it. Stroke it through just the hairs of your brows, being careful not to touch the skin. If you find you’re getting too much color, blot the brush a bit with a tissue to tone it down a little.

It comes out looking very natural. You don’t get any of that crayon-on-the-skin effect when someone sees you from the side. Since it’s water-based, it washes off easily too.

How about these???

Just seen a barmaid who I think is extremely cool (metal/goth look) who’s had it done in the last week. While she doesn’t look hideous I can’t really see how the look is doing her any favours (not that I think she is under any obligation to visually or otherwise please me).
