I just saw an infomercial for this product. It supposedly enables people to easily move heavy objects (even a car), using principles from Physics 101. It’s something I could definitely use, if it works. The principles are valid, but I’m concerned with its sturdiness and durability. Has anyone tried it?
Including shipping & handling, you get two sets for $27.94.
I’ve used something similar (mine look like if you put the hardwood blue pad on top of the white carpet base) and they actually do work. We’ve had them a number of years and used them a bunch of times, and they’re still in good shape and work great.
Being the cheap-ass person that I am, I’d check ebay for a cheaper product.
Those types of things absolutely work. They’re a must-have if you live alone or if you’re two weaker people living together. Hell, they are even handy for a big strong guy with big strong furniture.
I’ve never seen a “system” that comes with the lift bar. That’s pretty neat. Usually the hard part of those mover pads is getting the piece up high enough to get the pad underneath.
I have no experience with that product but it reminds me of one of my favorite internet videos. Scientists always argue about how ancient people moved huge stone blocks to build things like the pyramids. This retired Michigan man decided to build a Stonehenge his own damn self with no modern equipment. The principles work. You think you need lots of people people and fancy tools to move that big building? Naw, just get a few boards and some rocks and move it where you want it yourself. Easy.
I just placed my order. Of course what they don’t tell you is even though the second set is “free,” they charge double for postage & handling, which comes to $15.90 per order. Well, I think it’s still worth buying.
Years ago my (now ex) wife yelled at me for moving the bed. I came in wondering what the hell she was talking about. Sure enough, the bed was a good 4 or 5 inches away from the wall. I know I didn’t move it and accused her of doing it. She accused me of doing it and it turned in to a big stupid argument (remember Gaslight). Anyways, she got mad and stomped back to bed. Just as she did that, I looked over at her and said “Get of the bed!” Quizzically, she looked at me, thinking I was yelling at her and wasn’t very happy about it and snapped back at me and I said “No, really, just get off the bed for a second”…“Now get back on the bed” When she did that, the bed slid about an inch away from the wall. As it turns out we had a set of those under the legs of the (very heavy king size bed that can not be moved without them, period). She was pregnant and in the last week or so she had gotten to the point where she wasn’t quite as graceful as she used to be getting into bed. Between that and the extra weight when she ‘plopped’ herself down the whole bed slid around on them. She didn’t realize it was happening and assumed I had been doing it to mess with her.
So yes, they really do work.
