What kind of fabric is most repellent to pet hair?
My brother wants a new bathrobe. His current one is shot, but he likes it because his cat’s hair doesn’t stick to it. Now I could just ask him “hey, what kind of fabric is your current bathrobe” but that would kind of give away (1) who got his name on the gift exchange and (2) what he’s getting.
So other than the inappropriate but inevitable leather, rubber PVC replies, can anyone suggest a bathrobey fabric that will be pet hair resilient?
Well, I think silk might be pretty repellent, but I doubt that’s something you would want to be giving your brother. Your boyfriend, maybe, but that might just squick your brother out.
And I WAS thinking leather, but only because I thought you were looking for upholstery fabric. A leather bathrobe would just be weird.
Hmm… tooled leather with hide-on details… Maybe that wouldn’t be too weird for us cowboy types!
i think a smooth polyester, maybe even a poly-blend fabric, would be slick enough to shed most hair. the downside, of course, is that this is more a warmer-weather fabric, since it tends to be a bit on the thin side. (think disco-era shirts for the fabric type.)
the men’s versions i see in my mind tend to be in a dark paisley print.
on the other extreme, a terry-cloth robe is so fuzzy on its own, what’s a little extra cat hair gonna do to it? pick a dark green, or brown if available, and the hair shouldn’t be all that obvious.
extra bonus points: the cat(s) will probably think a terry robe is its Best Present Ever.
