Facebook and mutual friends

I was almost positive there was a way of recommending to one of your facebook friends that they should be friends with another of your facebook friends. (apart from just sending them a written message saying “hey, blah blah is on facebook, how about you Friend them?”). But now I can’t figure out what it was.

Is there such a mechanism, or am I on drugs?

There used to be, I certainly remember doing it.
Normally, I just send the URL of one person’s page to the other person to make them easier to find.

Looking in the help section I see this:
To suggest a friend to someone, take the following steps:

  1. Click the “Suggest Friends for [Name]” link found at the bottom of any friend’s profile page. Or, after confirming a friend request from a new user, click the “Suggest friends that he/she knows” link. A window of all of your friends will appear.
  2. Select the friend(s) you want to suggest. To find a particular friend, you can type their name in the “Find Friends” field or scroll through your complete Friends List. You can click the “Filter Friends” drop-down to sort your friends by network or Friend List.
  3. Once you make all of your selections, click the “Send Suggestions” button. Each friend that you selected will receive an invitation to add the new user as a friend.
    However, their help section tends to be out of date and I don’t see that link at the bottom.

Ha! I was so facebook-incompetent I didn’t even know where to find the “Help” button! (shouldn’t that stuff normally be at the top?)

However, “suggest friends” IS still there - bottom of the left hand column.

And it works!
