I find that Facebook is filling my space with over 75% from groups I don’t subscribe to (although they may be closely related to some to which I do subscribe), or are “sponsored”. In the meantime - I am getting fewer and fewer posts from groups I do subscribe to. (e.g. I open up a group and find a dozen posts that I had never seen). I also regularly get (unsponsored) posts from restaurants and other sites which are a couple of thousands of miles away in which I have no interest.
Is there a way of limiting what I can see to (a) groups to which I subscribe, and (b) posts from friends?
I recommend a browser extension called F.B. Purity (for the record, F.B. stands for “Fluff-Busting” and not what you thought). It gives you a lot of control (but not total control) over what you see in your feed. It may not solve all of this, but it should help.
Also maybe check your group subscriptions to make sure they are what you think they are. I’m pretty sure I get all the posts from the groups I subscribe to.
Well, it does now. It was originally Facebook Purity, but Facebook told them to knock it off. Since everyone already called it F.B. Purity, they came up with a different acronym.
And, yes, this is what I use. But sometimes I get long strings of Facebook’s ads for other groups, and it can take a few seconds to load up the next actual interesting post.
I wish it worked on mobile–even if just the website.
This. I use Feeds almost exclusively: not only is there one for Friends, there are also feeds for Groups and Pages. Feeds are also available in the Android FB app.
