An old friend and I reconnected thru Facebook, and while I’m glad to be in touch with him again, he has the annoying habit of posting nearly every thought he has on his wall. This wouldn’t be a big deal, but when I pull up the Facebook app on my iPhone, he’s nearly always nearly all of the News Feed.
I looked around on Facebook, and while I found ways to stop him from seeing what I post on my wall, is there some way to stop me from seeing what he posts on his wall?
And you do so by hovering over an offending wall post and then clicking on the X that appears in the top right. That’ll give you the option of nuking the specific post, specific application or everything from that person.
When I do that, Palooka, I only see 2 options: Mark As Spam & Report As Abuse.
I don’t want to do either of those things.
Maybe I can hide him, like Telemark says. Lemme go figure out how to do that.
Okay, I watched a little video about hiding, but I have no Hide button or menu no matter where I hover my mouse over his page.
In the News Feed, click on the “X” to the right of the poster’s picture. That will give you three options:
Hide This Post
Hide All Posts by So-and-So
Mark As Spam
Found it!
You have to go to your own News Feed on the internet site, not on the phone. Can’t just do it from their wall.
Now I have to hope it translates over to the app. Seems to be a bunch of people complaining that it doesn’t but I’ll wait and see.
Thanks for your help, folks.
ETA: WOOT! I just reloaded the news feed on my phone and it removed all his posts. Sweet.
You can Hide him without him knowing it, right?
Yeah. As far as I can tell, there’s no notification sent or anything.
In general, Facebook never notifies someone when you do anything with their feed or defriend them.
