New Facebook User Question.

I’ve looked online and can’t find anything about this so bear with me. I just started Facebook last week.

I want to know how to stop getting stuff on my wall and/or news feed regarding peoples goddamn Mafia game, or Quiz Results, or Poker Results. I can’t figure out how to get this shit to stop showing up on my newsfeed! It’s so annoying. Especially if you have several friends who do these things. My whole newsfeed is polluted with this shit and I have missed actual life updates because they were buried in there.

Any help here?

Look to the right of one of those posts, there’s a little arrow. Click on it and select hide all from this app.

Yeah the problem with those quizzes is that each quiz is a different app. So you can hide all Mafia and FarmTown updates in one fell swoop (well, two fell swoops), but “Which Twilight Character Are You?” and “Which Twilight Character Will You Marry?” are two different things that need to be hidden separately.

The SDMB just introduced me to the Facebook Purity script for Greasemonkey (which is an add-on for Firefox) and capybara’s right - you need that to be able to hide the inane quizzes.

I had never thought of doing this. But I’m glad you can do this. I’m so going to. I can’t stand everyone’s Mafia Wars updates!!

A vote for Facebook Lite, boy what a difference. CNET writes that it was available in the US and in India, but it’s available in Canada too. I don’t know about Europe.

You can also just block certain users. I hid my sister in law because she does every goddamn quiz, test, poll and game in existence. I check her wall every so often to see if there’s anything of note (or ask my brother, since it IS his wife and all) but usually not.

I also found you can put the language into pirate!
