And how can I fix it? My wife sent a PM to her niece on Facebook. For some reason it appeared on my newsfeed. When she went back to Messenger, it wasn’t there, nor is it on her home page. How is this possible, and how do I stop it from happening? Thanks.
It sounds like she posted it to your page rather than sending it by Messenger as intended. If so she should be able to delete it. She should be able to find it by clicking on her photo in the upper right (I’m talking computer display, not sure what this looks like on a mobile device), which is the home page, then click the three-dot menu on the upper right and select Activity Log, the Your Posts.
Did she post it to your niece’s page, rather than via messenger? That would be the most likely. Things showing up on your feed doesn’t mean being posted to your page - it would show up on your feed because you know both people involved in the post. (Assuming you are FB friends with your niece)
Your wife should be able to delete her post - she would need to navigate to the niece’s page and it should show up there. The FB interface will give her the ability to delete it.
Alternatively, your wife go visit her own activity log (the 3 dot menu on her profile) and navigate to “your posts on others’ timelines” and it should appear there.
ETA - How did I miss CookingWithGas’s post covering the same thing?
She swears that she posted it in Messenger, but she’s also not the most savvy about technology. She did delete it from her niece’s page. I also changed her password, just to be safe about things.
