I don’t know why I didn’t see this earlier. However, I don’t see any place in the admin control panel where I could run this sucker. I know that there’s quite a few functions that can ONLY be done in the physical presence of the server, in other words, only the Chi Reader techs can hardwire a new admin or mod into the system. I cannot promote someone to admin or mod myself, even though the vBulletin software permits me to do so, because of the various firewalls and other safety features that the techs at the Reader have set up.

Yes, if an Admin cannot run this kind of query, I can see that this won’t be #1 (or 27…) on the Tech staff’s priority list… Oh well!

Those same techs are quite busy elsewhere, and don’t work the night shift, so the chance of this happening is pretty much zero. They have a lot of other things on their “To Do” list. They might run that thing out of curiousity if they’re there anyway, but I wouldn’t count on it.

This actually wouldn’t require physical presence at night - it could be written as a script and scheduled to run sometime during the night - say 10 minutes before (or after) the Nightly Downtime (Late-morning Downtime, to me :(). But as you noted - probably not even on the radar as far as priorities go. I guess we’ll all just have to remain curious…

Just because we don’t post often (the lurkers) doesn’t mean we aren’t members in good standing or regulars, does it?

To reiterate, I was using a nonstandard definition for the term “regular”, since I didn’t want to have to repeatedly say “a poster with more than 1000 posts”. There are certainly other, reasonable, definitions of “regular” which would encompass lurkers and low-count posters. In retrospect, I would have been better off using the coined term “kiloposter”, since it has an unambiguous meaning. And meaning no slight, of course, Wildcatz, it is factually true that you are definitely not a kiloposter.

I do, and so do around 500 or so other current or former members at the least.

A better question might be, “Who has more than 10,000 posts?”

The number of kiloposters already exceeded 270 in October 2001 (see here. On checking the original thread I see that I misstated the date above as May 2002). And that included only the number of kiloposters who were actively posting around that time. Obviously, the number by now is certainly well beyond 500.

I have no life.
While surfing over the weekend, I starting compling a list. Just by taking names off the threads I was reading, nothing fancy. I did go through a couple of really old threads to get some older posters who exceeded 1000. Obviously, this list is by no means complete - just going through this thread netted me three more names.
Anyway, I came up with 652 users of 1000 posts or more, having a total of 2,110,762 posts amongst them.
15 posters have over 10,000, with Scylla being really close to making it 16 soon, if he hasn’t already.

And all this was before I saw Colibri’s link to Kamandi’s thread - I see I have missed quite a few.
