"Faking It" on TLC

Anyone else watching? I watched the “drag racer to drag queen” episode and was moderately entertained by it. Great drag name: Portia Mazaratti. I laughed out loud when “Sweetie” asked Portia how old he was and then screamed “you fell into a trap!” when he answered truthfully because as he was answering I said the same thing. Portia didn’t use the stage to his advantage as much as he could have so I’m not surprised that two of the three judges picked him as the newbie, but for the first (technically second) time performing the guy did a good job.

Do the people get to choose what they’re transformed into? I can’t imagine this straight-laced country boy picking “drag queen” as his choice if it weren’t assigned. I do want to go to his house and smack his whole family, though. The brother especially: “Will you have to…get intimate with a man?” And then Mom decides the family should pray about it. Sheesh.

So, what exactly did we “learn” from that episode? I mean, it WAS on The Learning Channel, right? Did we learn which transvestite bars are the most shi-shi in NYC? Did we learn any new makeup tricks? Puh-leeze! Did we learn where trannies tuck their family jewels? Didn’t really need to know. Did we learn how “difficult” it is to be a trannie? Well, then. . . stick to drag-racing! That episode really pissed me off! I didn’t mind the Sommellier episode or the interior decorator episode. But this last one was uncalled for!
