One day before the Autumnal equinox, Denver got it’s first taste of fall weather, with cold rain and even a few flurries in places. The high for the day was 58° F at 12:01 AM, but from about 7 AM through the rest of the day it didn’t get out of the 40’s.
Lots of snow in the mountains and foothills just above me.
It’ll be back in the mid 70’s by Friday, but it was a nice hint of what’s to come.
They say that by the end of next week we may get 70 degrees in the early morning and in the 80’s during the day. I’m looking forward to a little relief from the feels like 108 days. I’d be almost giddy if I weren’t so hot and sweaty.
It’s worth noting that some authorities don’t consider the seasons to “officially” start on the equinoxes and solstices at all. In fact, the best definition of the seasons “for practical purposes” (nothing, apparently, is ‘official’) is that fall/autumn starts on September 1.
