Fallin' for the Rants: October minirants

Buddy was gone four four days, earlier this year.

Now, he wears both a Tile and a PebbleBee.

Ordered a battery powered car buffer, and a DVD (The Right Stuff). I was expecting it on Tuesday per the original notification confirmation.

I idly checked my email this evening, and it said it had been delivered @ 4:37 today.

So I ran downstairs to fetch it-and it’s not there. Check the mailbox in case the USPS delivered it and left it in one of the big auxilary boxes there. Nope.

Go to Amazon to notify them, and see that the deliverer took a snapshot, and yep that was my door mat. I was taking a nap at the time, had my fan on blowing in the outside air at full blast, and my doorbell sound is very weak anyway (plus these delivery people hardly ever ring it anyway). FUCK.

Fucking thieves. The weather tomorrow would have been ideal for me to buff my vehicle too. I am tempted to grab a spare Amazon box and put dog crap or ants or something in it like that glitter bomb guy on Youtube.

EDIT: Just double checked the pic, that is NOT my door mat, as it turns out. I can read enough of the message on the thing to find out which neighbor's it is and hopefully retrieve the package. Wish me luck, here I go...

[no idea why my edit above did that]

Anyway, I found the matching mat, rang the custom doorbell, it called her remotely, she has it, and will deliver it a bit later tonight, yay.

Always fun to have to play scavenger hunt because a delivery person can’t be bothered to actually read addresses, isn’t it? (One of my ongoing peeves with FedYecchs in my area) At least your goodies wound up with an honest and nice person.

Doesn’t invalidate the idea of a porch pirate bait package. I’d go with glitter bomb mixed with used cat litter, myself. :smiling_imp:

11 pm and she hasn’t knocked or left it on my doorstep yet.

That “honest and nice” may be getting retracted.

I had a package delivered and it was not at my house. They gave me a picture of the delivery and my house is red brick and the house they delivered it to was buff brick. They helpfully tucked it out of sight from a casual look. The nearest buff brick house was vacant so I could easily go there and look and found my missing book fortuneatly it was wrapped in plastic so the rain didnt destroy it.

It got returned around midnight, but I heard no knock or no doorbell. But I got it one way or another. :upside_down_face:

I can tell when the Amazon guy is extra busy. They usually mix up our house with the nextdoor neighbor after Prime days.

Maybe it’s time to get a louder doorbell !

Check her car. It’s probably nice and shiny now.

Nah, items were all pristine-I gotta give her props. [whoosh?]

Note she had a doorbell cam, same brand that I use for my in-apt. cams, so I may indeed spring for such and hook it up to my existing network, esp. if it will remote-call me if someone is there like hers did. So I’m good all around after all of that, thanks.
