Fallout 4 Countdown

I tend to randomise then tweak, myself. I like to create a(n even more) haggard version of my own face, to look like a grizzled wastelander.

I’ve been browsing the Bethsoft Fallout 4 discussion board in recent weeks, just to keep my hype levels up. But it’s such a relief to return here to civilisation, where spelling, grammar, humour and civility haven’t been eradicated long ago by an atomic blast.

Guess I’m taking some of my bonus to Micro Center next month. Just checked and, while my GPU is above minimum, the memory ain’t.

Thinking about getting a 6MB GeForce 980 Ti, that way I shouldn’t need to upgrade anything for quite some time.

Should be good at least until December. :stuck_out_tongue:

I fall above the minimum and below the recommended specs (i5 4670K and 3GB GTX 660 Ti). Here’s hoping it doesn’t blow up my PC when the hi-res mods come out.

Good tool for planning your character builds, think this is how I’m gonna go initially.

Planning a sneak/sniper/one shot one kill build since it’s served me well in 3 and NV. First perk I’ll get is Better Criticals, Ninja after that, then Night Person for the extra INT/PER. Want to add a few PER points for Sniper, after taking the Rifleman perks. Agility has a whole lot of useful perks, Sneak and Mister Sandman particularly. Eventually want a few points in CHA for Lone Wanderer, I likes the sound of +25% damage, along with Bloody Mess 3 giving +15%.

Anyone heard when we can start downloading the game from Steam? And when they are planning to unlock?

Approximately 104 hours from now.

But I want it now!

It’ll give you plenty of time to work on your haggard look at work so that you can safely call in sick for the week after release.

Enough, Veruca.

New trailer, now showing some plot details and a female Vault Dweller.

Where was this like a week ago when I was working this out in Evernote? Well, I suppose I have no cause to complain about this attractive and useful free public service. Maybe soon they’ll toss in a leveling planner.

Apparently, you can already download the Pip-Boy app, with no game to sync it to. You have to put it in Demo Mode if you want to screw with it.

Another Fallout 4 build planner. The fact that it doesn’t show what perks you’re unlocking makes it less useful, though still more useful than pencil-and-paper and Wikia page.

I saw a couple coverages of the game who proudly announced that “you could be a female for the first time.” Sadly, they only implemented that in… Fallout 1!? Did not do the research.

I just jumped in for a pre-order from GMG; saved $12. Apparently my Steam keys are in my email inbox. I hope, and expect, that this will make up for the last dozen games I bought on sale that got near-zero play.

Preloading on Steam right now.

Preloading to my SSD, can;t wait!

Hearing some bad things form German community forums - Frame rate drops, texture pop-in, crashes on PS4, frame rate issues but more stable on Xbone.

Hoping to hear about the state of the PC version.

Yeah, just started my download. This is a big sucker. Gonna take until tomorrow to download at least…not that it matters, since it doesn’t unlock until Tuesday anyway.

I’ve got god tier internet. Took me 25 minutes to download, and I thought it was a bit small for a big open world game. The Witcher 3 was 45 gigs I think.

45 minutes or less (I didn’t watch it the whole time), with “nothing special” internet (Charter). Unless you’re on satellite or dialup(?), it shouldn’t take forever unless something is wrong with your router throttling or something.

Console has mods now, but I take it PC will have more? I am particularly thinking of Skyrim Script Extender type things, or those that require console. Still, I’m not a PC supremacist, I hope console friends enjoy themselves.

I’m guessing the mods available to console will be a limited, curated list of things that don’t drastically modify the game. It’ll probably mostly be game modifiers that are essentially newgame+ type of modes that change something about how the world works.
