Fallout 4 Countdown

A couple, huh? Sigh. I’ll bet some people on twitter were furious that Bethesda was cowtowing to the feminazis.

Bunch of people have early copies. So salty!!!

Are there any reviews out? Has anyone ignored the embargo and posted in advance?

I’m kind of curious how it will score. I really would have given New Vegas a 9.5/10 or a 10/10, especially the ultimate edition. Skyrim is about the same for me. Elder Scrolls IV and Fallout 3 are more like solid 8.5/10 or 9/10 to me. Curious if this lands any 10/10.

How long has a place like IGN or Gamespot had to review it? It has to take more than a month to get a real view of something like this.

Word is they’ve had weeks with the game already. There was an Embargo on the Embargo though, and they were only recently allowed to announce when the reviews will hit, which is Monday morning, I believe.

I only just found out that they’ve had the voice actors say hundreds of names in order to actually be able to call you by name. Anything from John, to McFly, to Fuckface apparently.

Here’s an (incomplete) list:

Looks like people on Reddit are questioning the veracity of this information.

I’ve been wondering whether I’d rather screw around experimenting with names to see which they’ve got or just see the full list and decide whether I want to pick one of the established ones.

I hope it tells you if the name works. It should let you hear it.

Well, from the email i got today, my games in the post (I’m in the UK). Fingers crossed i might get it Monday.

International Business Times accidentally released their review. It was removed once they realized what they had done.

It was not much of a review(it did not go in depth at all), but it was a mixed review if you want to know.

It may have been mixed, but the things he complained about are things that have been there in the series since the beginning.

The game is all about wondering the wastes and exploring everything you see. that’s not a minus in my book. I guess he wanted more The Order than Fallout.

It’s hard to tell since the review was so incredibly short and shallow. I guess he has a word-count limit, but the dude barely told us anything worthwhile. But, yes, from what I read, he seems to be bothered that the opening 5-6 hours were dull.

I wonder what he thought of New Vegas and Fallout 3. I mean, I hardly found either of those dull in the beginning. There was so much you could see in the distance that made you want to explore.

I guess we’ll see when more reviews hit.

Lots of youtube videos hitting showing people playing their copies.

It looks neat. I hope it lives up to some of the hype, though the hype is higher than anything can meet.

where?! Must watch!

I found some, in English(nice bonus). I just typed in Fallout 4 into youtube and set it to “uploaded in the last hour”.

Aggggh. For my own part, I don’t see any percentage in watching gameplay video at this point. I watched some leaked snippets, which luckily weren’t really plot spoilers and took place later in the game. But now we’re talking about people doing the early parts that I’m better off experiencing for myself.

However, if anyone here wants to make vague hints about early speech checks they had to pass, or how soon they encounter the need to hack terminals or pick locks…

So far, I’ve seen the opening 30 minutes or so. It’s spoilerific in principle, but hardly devastating.

I have seen a guy pick locks in the first 2 hours of gameplay.

I’ve been wondering whether Bethesda considered New Vegas cannon. On the one hand, why not? But on the other hand, it does affect the fate of several cannonical power groups, including not only NCR and the Brotherhood in the west, but all the lesser factions from Vault 15. But it appears I have my answer – the Pip-Boy app has a Missile Command mini-game that is clearly a call back to Mr. House’s missile defense that saved Vegas from direct nuclear strikes.

The game should be unlockable via VPN in a little over an hour!

Reviews are going up.

Polygon’s review is pretty good! It says the gunplay feels like a functional shooter, the crafting system makes loot worthwhile, and the settlement system is pretty cool. Exciting!

It also says this is the best writing in any of the Bethesda games, though that’s an admittedly a lowish bar.

Wow, hope you guys ar epicking it up on PC. The differences are pretty drastic:

AND that’s on an an i3 750 ti, which incidentally, is running the game better than a PS4.

Also Digitla Foundry is seeing drops to ZERO FPS on the consoles. that engine sure seems to be CPU bound.
