That’s why he wanders the wasteland: He’s looking for a patch of green grass that might have survived somewhere so he can tell people to get off it.
Something that keeps bothering me about the main quest line:
Granted, I am not very far in it. I just found Nick, so pretty early. But we definitely saw ourselves re-freeze after the spouse was shot and the infant was stolen. And by the time we woke up, the spouse was completely deteriorated. I’m no forensic scientist, but how long does it take to deteriorate a full corpse in a hermetically sealed vault? Why are we even looking for an infant at this point? For all we know, Shaun is a full adult ruling the bloody Commonwealth, or dead for 2 generations, or whatever. Why is my main character, who fully acknowledges she was frozen without aging for 200 years, set on this fella still being an infant?
Maybe I’m wrong. Haven’t gotten that far yet. But I’m going to be pretty disappointed in Bethesda if Shaun was only swiped from the vault like 2 weeks before I woke up, because they would have ruined a pretty good plot opportunity.
Can you kick people out of settlements or move them to others? I left a radio transmitter on too long and now I have 8 people where I should only have 4.
Can’t you just add 4 beds and some crops?
Yep, you’re wrong. When you eventually find him:
Shaun is in his 60s and is now the head of the Institute. It’s a pretty good reveal, but they drop some hints before it happens, like Kellogg saying “well, he’s a bit older now…”
I would suggest not reading that spoiler unless you’ve found the Institute.
For my money, the best mod you can get for power armor is the jetpack. It doesn’t really let you fly, but it does ease a lot of hassles when you want to jump someplace. I would have called it the JumpPack. If, however, somebody releases a mod that makes it feasible to use it as a JetPack, I’m there.
Right now I’m doing a playthrough where I put off actual crafting skills. The only advantage I’m really feeling the want of from not pouring all those points into crafting skills is the jump jets. But at least now when I get to them they’ll feel like I’ve earned them.
In this playthrough, having not actually finished the main plot yet, I only got involved in the main story because I wanted to get Curie through her story. Now, because I’ve been traveling with her, I went ahead and decided to encourage her, and I am now in a romance with her. I had intended to romance Cait this time around, but she gets so irritated about me helping people, whereas Curie loves it. And there is much to be said about her. But… Cait, now. I’m about to find out if there are consequences for multiple romances. I mean, this isn’t The Witcher 3, after all.
I’m disappointed you can’t do more mods to power armor without science. I get that most of the power armor mods should involve science, but you should be able to tack on extra armor with armorer and maybe some sort of melee modification with blacksmith I think. Armorer especially should play a role.
Just don’t do it in front of the other one(s) I think
I romanced Piper first just cause that was the first female I hung out with. Thought that romancing Curie would force a decision, Dragon Age: Origins style but nope. I haven’t tried flirting with one in front of the other (flirt options only coming up a few times anyway) but both talk about how wonderful I am and both give the Lover’s Embrace perk.
I’m guessing that I could theoretically romance everyone allowable without repercussions. Points to Bethesda for trying but the romance system is rather shallow and doesn’t lead to much besides the perk. As noted, this isn’t CD Projekt Red or Bioware. Not that I need to live vicariously through humping pixel people (I’m fine with no sex scenes) but a well done romance option adds to the epic feel of a story.
I don’t bother with video game romance unless it is integral to the main plot. I know that IRL when I have had a lot on my mind, romance drops off my list of priorities. So I figure if I am saving the universe or taming the wasteland, whether the robot titty-woman really, really likes me won’t even occur to me.
Sure, but a couple weeks of getting shot at by super mutants with the same titty-robot might change your opinion!
That said, I don’t think in-game RPG romances are generally required. Just another way of character and story development. Friend zoning is almost always an option.
In 3 I might have opted to bump uglies with Moira, despite her mustache, if that had been an option. In NV, I made passes at both Cass and Arcade, but the game permitted no more than that. I pursued the Red Lucy romance, but that was because I wanted Dinner Bell, a unique shotgun. Now if Alice, over at Crimson Caravan had been interested in a, shall we say…merger, I might have pursued that. None of the companions in 4 have interested me enough to even have them around.
FTR: If they ever make a NV movie, Melissa McCarthy MUST play Cass.
I wouldn’t say that Red Lucy was a “romance”…
I don’t see how slaughtering huge numbers of hostile creatures while butt-ass naked and armed with a kitchen knife in order to impress the sadistic titty-woman enough to bed you and give you the kewel shotgun isn’t romance.
Especially because you can return for further beddings but, sadly, no additional guns.
Does the only way to download large files from the Nexus site require giving them money?
Pretty sure I’ve never given them money. You do need to be registered.
Yeah, I’ve never paid Nexus a dime. Where are you seeing that?
You need to be registered, but it is free. Paid registration gets you faster downloads iirc.
That makes sense. I never had a problem downloading stuff though. I even downloaded that Skyrim mod that adds another continent of stuff to the game and don’t remember the download being remarkable.
