I liked Richard Dawson in the early years. He’d sometimes argue with the judges and insist an answer was close enough to match. He did seem bored the last few years he hosted.
Harvey is funnier, which bodes well, especially as the market grows, um, how can I say this?, darker. Since it was integrated (do any TV viewers recognize that term?) FF has a lot of matches between, er, “ethnic” teams. The moms still want to grab John O’Hurley’s ass, and nobody wants to grab Steve Harvey’s ass, but the superficials are what convince the suits.
Richard was the best, except for the creepy kissing. Ray was good, too but not like Richard. The others are unwatchable. When GSN had the Richard/Ray shows on, I’d watch when I could. The other hosts, I can’t stand to be in the same room while it’s on. The set, like all game show sets, has gone downhill.
I have to agree with this, too. The original sets were pure 70s kitsch, but the current set (is the current one the one where the audience is behind the family backdrops and center board where nobody in it can possibly actually see what’s going on?) is atrocious.
Dawson was good except for being a perv. O’Hurley was fantastic. All the others were fine except for Richard Karn. Karn was the worst game show host in the history of television.
Dawson was far less pervy in his one season comeback (1994-95), yes? This was after he got remarried, had a son and promised him that he wouldn’t kiss anybody but mommy?
