Family Guy: Is this a movie reference?

In an episode of Family Guy, Stewie has overheard Brian revealing that he’s supposedly in love with Lois. The scene pans over to the doorway, where Stewie is leaning against the doorjamb, eating an apple, and then he says “Well, well, well.”

Then in another episode, Brian overhears Stewie professing his love for another baby in his day care class (“Cookie?”) The scene repeats itself - it pans over to Brian leaning against the same doorjamb, eating an apple, and he says “Well, well, well.”

Anybody know if this refers to a well-known movie / play / whatever?

I was just popping in to subscribe to the thread because that has been bugging me, too.
Also to let you know that your sig line’s wrong. Krakatoa is east of Java. It just takes longer to get there that way. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not a movie reference that I know of. But if you happen to be playing the Family Guy drinking game (email me for the rules if you want em), you might still be able to get that under the “a gag is repeated” rule. This is worth fewer drinks than a movie reference, though.

What do you get if you have a Rhode Island School of Design reference or even a plain old Rhode Island reference?

Not a specific movie reference that I’m aware of that they were aiming for, but the whole “pan back to reveal an interloper who overheard an embarrassing declaration” is a pretty standard trope. All over soap operas, for one.

It’s such a specific look and action that it feels like it’s a reference to something. I don’t know what. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it was.

For that you’ll have to develop a drink called “The Big Blue Bug.”
