Family Guy; The Empire Strikes Back (open spoilers)

How are you all missing the jokes? Maybe they weren’t a mile a minute, and very little (if any) were flashbacks…but how are the jokes being missed?

I can understand if you think they aren’t funny, or if they’re too “Star Warsy” for you, but I don’t see how you can watch the episode and not pick up on the jokes being said.

I liked the Meg/monster, and that they told her to shut up when she complained about not having any lines.

And the the parasite in the Meg/monster’s insides was the evil monkey.

Oh, and Luke singing that song from The Three Amigos with his own severed head.

It gets even more MEH-ish if you hold it against what Spaceballs did 20 years ago.

That bit with Tom Selleck wasn’t shot for the episode - it’s a clip from one of his old movies. I got that from the DVD commentary. Also, if I had known they were going to broadcast it, I wouldn’t have bought the DVD.

Boo! I didn’t know that…

It takes away from the comedy of it a bit…but overall I still think that it’s hilarious.

I’m with you on this. I found myself chuckling quite a bit during the entire show.

Their version of the famous “I love you”/“I know” exchange was eminently predicatable but absolutely awesome.

Yep, me too.

Exactly!

Plus, I’m just enough of a Star Wars geek that I loved the recreation of the “look up” that Han/Peter does right before he gets frozen.

I don’t have it on DVD…what’d he say that was beeped? I think I can lip read it but any conformation?

I still wouldn’t know if it hadn’t been brought up in this thread. Meh. Should’ve used Bertram or something.

Or Hardware Wars did 30 years ago…

But the TV broadcast was censored. One bit that made it into the TV ADS failed to make it to broadcast (the conversation between Chrisluke and the medical droid about his artificial hand). Since I haven’t seen the DVD version, that’s the only one I can say for sure, but…

I am sure they will do RotJ but wouldn’t mocking Episode 1 be like punching a baby?

They could have done Yoda better.

Never knew about that until now… it was horrible.

They could joke about doing an episode one parody for the rest of the show’s existence, but I don’t think they are stupid enough to actually make one.

Lois/Leia: “I love you.”
Peter/Han: “…Fuck off.”
