For me, Julia Roberts is nothing special. She’s not a very good actress. I hear that she is smart (She’s in Mensa, right?). Also, she’s not all that great looking (IMO). I think that she’s going to be in those ‘feel good’ movies about romance and the like.
I’d like to second Mena Suvari as well as add Julia Stiles. For some unknown reason she bugs the hell out of me.

For my money, it’s gotta be Calista Flockhart. Vaguely cute in a prepubescent sort of way, but come on! The woman weighs what, about as much as my left sock, and her MAKEUP has more acting talent than she has!
Likewise for Cameron Diaz. Loved her in the first couple of movies she made (most notably The Mask – she was adorable in that flick!) but since then she’s lost so much weight she looks like a Q-tip with eyes! Every time I see her on screen, I just want to buy her a hamburger.
Jennifer Lopez. Absolutely beautiful woman, but has anyone noticed she can’t act?
I’ll second someone’s nomination of Jennifer Love Hewitt. Another good-looking girl with absolutely no brains or talent. Kinda like a show dog - bred for looks, not intelligence.
I’ll also second Ashley Judd. Blaargh.
Juliette Lewis drives me right around all kinds of bends. particularly because of her voice. It sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me.
Bridget Fonda has had one good role - Single White Female. In every other movie she has been a pale imitation of someone else. I don’t know who that someone else is, but she clearly has no talent of her own. I have to say the same for Marisa Tomei who has had one good performance in her career, and won an Oscar for it.
Rosie Perez should not be allowed near a movie theater, let alone a movie set. Bad, bad, icky, bad. Rosie O’Donnell should be similarly banned, along with my personal select crew of the Talentless and/or Vastly Overrated Barbie Doll Society ™: Carmen Electra, Heather Locklear, Kristen Davis, Tiffani (Amber) Theissen, Pamela Anderson, Tracy Bingham, Shannen Doherty, Tori Spelling, Rose McGowan and Calista Flockhart.
It’d be easier to compile a list of actresses I enjoy.
I have to agree with the Julia Roberts, Andi MacDowell, Sandra Bullock, and Anjelina Jolie nominations. And of course Pamela Anderson, but no one ever accused her of acting.
MacDowell in particular always seems so lifeless on screen, and Sandra Bullock should get over herself - she makes a good supporting actress, or playing a character that ISN’T miss beauty queen - a la While You Were Sleeping, but can’t carry a film. Roberts just isn’t very pretty, though can act some. Jolie is wierd-looking but also can act if forced.
I disagree completely with Gwyneth Paltrow, who was GREAT in Shakespeare in Love and very good in Sliding Doors. Also gorgeous.
Michelle Pfeiffer is a wonderful actress and keeps good roles into her 40’s, and stays pretty as well. Can be believably tough.
Cameron Diaz is a good comedy actress, and surprising in Being John Malkovich. Has a lot of energy, which comes across well. Her ass was the star of Charlie’s Angels too (according to Harry Knowles, and I agree).
Bridget Fonda is just capable, though a good interview and seemingly pretty cool in real life.
Rosie O’Donnell is a hypocritical hack, and I wanna hurl when she starts singing. Can’t stand her at all.
I like Wynona Ryder.

Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, and Drew Barrymore have enough carnal appeal for me to eliminate any objectivity in my judgement.
Gwyneth Paltrow was brilliant in The Talented Mr. Ripley The smooth transition she made from warm and accepting to cold and hateful can literally be tracked in each scene. I don’t like the weird face she makes in all her roles when she fake weeps, but I forgive her that foible.
Not for nothing, is Julia Stiles Mickey Dolenz’s love child? It’s uncanny.
Natalie Portman is not compelling in the films I’ve seen her in lately. I don’t think she will always be an actress. Perhaps she’ll become a PhD like Mayim Bialik and eschew the entertainment biz.
i am shocked and horrified that drew barrymore did not win this election hands down! i think that her face isn’t even close to cute, and i saw her knockers in playboy, and they looked like…well, pretty pathetic! i also second nicole kidman…
Hansome Harry, you have every right to your opinion, but just remember that Ms. Barrymore’s breasts are REAL. That is a rare and special thing to me!

Denise Richards - boobs on a stick. Not one speck of perceptible talent.
Alicia Silverstone - always seems to be playing the same underage tart.
Gwyneth Paltrow - Doesn’t live up to her hype. No one could.
Salma Hayek - Hispanic boobs on a stick. Yes, you have the best body in the known Universe. Showing it to us all the time is not going to make up for the fact that you can’t act.
Winona Ryder - those big Bambi eyes and sinus-congestion voice convey all the depth of a wading pool.
