Famous people you've seen in person

Go on, Mama! I know it was because you played great blues on your show, the real deal…which is what inspired the Great British Invasion bands. McCartney heard/saw that… I love the fact that the letter was an effort back in the snail mail days, what a treasure!

Are you still doing a radio show these days?

Live and in person, not counting live performances:

Griffin Dunne
R. Lee Ermey
The members of Duran Duran (on multiple occasions)
The members of Erasure
The members of Elton John’s touring band
Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and their children
The Countess of Wessex (prior to her marriage, she was Sophie Rhys-Jones then)
Phil Collins
News anchor Shepherd Smith (jerk)
Judd Hirsch
Naomi Judd
Alex Trebek
Lisa Vidal
Graham Nash
Dustin Hoffman
Kirk Cameron and Chelsea Noble
Pauley Perrette
Debra Winger
Nathan Lane (sat across the aisle from him on a redeye from LA to NYC, chatted a bit, he’s a really nice guy, but maybe because I recognized him way back in 1991 from “Frankie & Johnny” and “Joe vs The Volcano” and told him so)

What does “troffing on a full fry-up” mean?

I’ve seen Erin Daniels naked. Does that count? (She was my girlfriend in high school).

Have hung out with Kevin Smith many times. His wife is best friends with a good friend of mine.

Also good friends with Carson Daly’s step-brother. Consequently I’ve hung out with Tara Reid and Jennifer Love Hewitt a few times. Both could drink like sailors.

Mike Tyson was in front of me in line at the water slide at the Four Seasons Maui. I elected not to speak with him.

Drank beer at Tony LaRussa’s house with several active members of the Cardinals several years ago. My brother has worked many years with one of his childhood friends. It was difficult not gaping at all of the players’ ridiculously hot wives and girlfriends.

Yes. KNBA, 90.3, “Alaska’s Native Voice.” Sundays, 7-10 pm. www.knba.org

The first radio interview I ever did was with Howlin’ Wolf, when I was 19. Forty Years Ago. How’d I ever ever get the nerve to do that???

I’m wondering … am I the only female honky lucky enough to meet both Tampa Red AND Georgia Tom (AKA The Rev. Thomas A. Dorsey)? Surely I’m not THAT unique.

*** Willie W. Williams! Cadillac Baby! Manuel Arrington! The Muck Muck Man ***
Freddy Below (world’s greatest drummer and chili connoisseur / rib joint guy
*Louis & Dave Myers * Larry “Totsy” Davis * Letha Jones (widow of Johnnie Jones (house party hostess supreme) * Wes Race *a plethora du blues …

Yes, but I’ve only seen Dirty Harry a couple of times, ages ago, and Mr. Robinson was a pleasant, 60-ish gentleman when I met him and looked nothing like he did back then.

I never would have made the connection, either. I was looking up Dirty Harry on IMDb a while ago and went to the trivia page. It says that Andrew Robinson received a threat after having played Scorpio, so I thought “hey, I wonder if he stayed in acting after that” and went to his page. 103 credited roles, of which Dirty Harry is the second. I’m sure I’d been seeing him for years without realizing it was the same guy.

Rod Stewart & Ron Wood (we shared a bottel of Mateus)
Jimmy Carter
Ronald Reagan
Smokin’ Joe Frazier (I had to get him out of the men’s room to be on set for a TV show)
Duke Ellington (who told me “You’re the **prettiest **sound person I have ever seen.”
This was a long time ago, folks…But God, did he have charm! And class.)
The Amazing Kreskin
Steven Tyler
Nils Lofgren
Albert King
Dan Rather (who refused to steal my cab after the driver stopped for me, then spotted him ten feet further on and pulled away --“This is your cab, I believe?” What a gentleman!)
Gregory McDonald (wrote the Fletch books, we had dinner together)
Rudolf Nuryev
Gregory Hines
Keith Olbermann
Christopher Reeve–I taught him how to do radio announcing
Howard Cosell
Roger Grimsby
dozens of folk singers, probably most famous is Tom Paxton
Isaac Asimov
Bob Hope (walked by him on Broadway one evening on my way home from the A&P)
Ray Charles
Les Paul
Leslie Stahl
Barack Obama–heck, half of America must have been at a rally in the last election
Hilary Clinton–well before the last election
Richard Thorpe (English soap opera star)
Dustin Hoffman (passed him on the street)

Barry Goldwater.

This was around 1988 or so. Paid a visit to a lab I was working in. He was in a wheelchair, and some guy was pushing him. The only people in the lab were me, my boss, Barry, and the dude that was pushing him.

Oh, forgot one: Mike Gallagher.

Met him numerous times when I was 13 or 14. Strange story.
