Given my age (and disqualifying these remarks of course because these guys are dead), I’d have to nominate Randolph Scott. I know: there are others (Roy Rogers, right?:))

Jimmy Stewart was the best looking cowboy riding at a canter, and my all-time favorite cowboy, the Duke, of course, in the early years.

Equestrians: I taught my old grey mule, “Mr. Ed”, how to “rack”, when I was learning to ride. I figure that might get me a smidgeon of respect in your “community”? I think the Brits call it “ambling”?

Tried to remove the quotes around the word community, but saw it too late. It wasn’t meant as a “dig” to y’all, just to people who looked down at us at the time (the 60’s). My Ed was my “ride” and I * loved* him and cared for him daily.

Audie Murphy is more what we’re looking for and when he was young, at least, he looked like I imagine a Pony Express rider would look like.

If a mule is good enough for Clint Eastwood, it’s good enough for me.

Hmmm… The Express riders were also pretty young, in their teens for the most part. I’m not up enough on the young 'uns to know who would fit the part. Orlando Bloom can ride, but even he is ‘too old’ for the casting.
