The Young Riders

I was flipping through the TV Guide today, and I noticed that The Young Riders is apparently airing on the Hallmark Channel. Does anyone remember this series, based on the Pony Express? I have all of the episodes on tape (in storage, 1,300 miles away). It was a lot of fun to watch. Besides, I had a bit of a crush on Yvonne Suhor. (Straight Dope matchmakers take note!)

While “Wild Bill” Hickock and “Buffalo Bill” Cody did work together for the Pony Express, I believe Hickock was actually a driver and not a rider. Still the series did show the characters using correct firearms (Colt 1851 Navy cap-and-ball pistols) and the costuming looked pretty good. And the theme was good.

Too bad I don’t have the Hallmark Channel. :frowning:

Yes, I certainly do remember The Young Riders. It was one of my favorite western series.

It used to be on five nights a week on a local channel in syndicated reruns, but that was a few years ago.

I am embarrassed to admit how much I loved this show when I was in high school.

That was my favorite show of all when I was ten. I was allowed to stay up a half-hour past my normal bedtime just to watch it every week  Sort of makes me wish I had the hallmark channel…

Favourite episode: Lou goes to a town where people don’t know her. She gets to wear a dress. Unfortunately, she is captured by the man who owned the brothel where she washed clothes as a child. IIRC, the bad guy put her in a noose and on top of a horse. Kid could kill him, which would spook the horse and hang Lou; or he could shoot the bad guy, who would then kill him.

Oh, my family used to watch this all the TIME…

I watch it every Saturday. They get it at work, but not at home. So I watch it at work. (I have the kind of job where I can freely watch TV as long as it doesn’t interfere with my other duties, which it doesn’t.)

I like this show. I like the whole Western lineup on Hallmark. I have a thing about Westerns, I admit it!
