I mostly agree, although I guess it’s still theoretically possible to have a fantasy shutout without the game being a shutout. There could really be a missed extra point after a defensive TD, or a game with only a safety. Pretty rare, anyway.
Good point. Another possibility is a pick-six in overtime to win 6-0, where both teams get credit for fantasy shutouts.
So both my SDMB league teams have their heads in the toilet while the rest of the leagues call them names and flush repeatedly… but my money league team of no-names and no-hopers (Kyle Orton, LeGarrette Blount, Danny Almendola, Marcedes Lewis) is the second highest scoring in my money league.
In a 12 team PPR league where we keep 3, should I pick up Deangelo Williams from the waiver wire as a potential keeper for next year? We must keep 3 so I was going to keep one QB, one RB, and one WR. I think it is a decent gamble to see where Williams ends up next year.
Who’s on your team now?
Just to put the issue to bed, I received a response from ESPN customer service:
I’m not really sure why they included an example, as the answer was pretty clearly explained (even if it is silly reasoning) in the first two paragraphs, or had to add the irrelevant stats for the Jets, except that maybe the responder is a Jets fan… but here we are.
Might seem a silly reaction over a minor quibble that didn’t even change anything in my league, but I’ll be using Yahoo! next year.
I wouldn’t call it a gamble. Williams is a stud, and he’ll be a stud wherever he goes. He’d certainly fit in well in Green Bay, especially with Grant coming off a serious knee injury.
Yahoo standard scoring, I’ve got Sam Bradford and Ben Roethlisberger as QBs. I’m thinking of starting Ben, but I want to grab another QB from waivers today in case Ben’s injuries act up. On waivers are Favre, Henne, Campbell, Collins and Stanton.
I can’t say I really want to go with any of them for a playoff game. If Pittsburgh gets off to a good start against Cincy, is he going to get pulled early? Bradford on the road at New Orleans doesn’t sound like a good idea. I can’t trust Favre, Henne is at the Jets, Campbell is going across the country to play the Jags, Collins wasn’t that impressive last week, although he’s against the Colts at home.
I can’t decide who to start this week, so I’m looking for some opinions.
It’s a Yahoo league and I have way too many RB’s to choose from. Right now I have McCoy and Tolbert starting and Mike Goodson, Ryan Mathews and Chris Ivory on the bench. I just picked up Ivory because he’s been looking good the past few weeks.
I couldn’t decide which QB to start either, but I’m glad I stuck with Manning after tonight’s performance!
I think I’m looking to have my worst week in all 4 of my leagues this year today. What the hell?
I hate fantasy football.
Someone link me to this post next year when I’m deciding whether to join more leagues.
At least you don’t have to suffer the indignity of losing to me in the championship game this year. The FF gods just came out front and told you you’re not winning up front.
The Vikings QB for this week looks to be Joe Webb, and at least at Yahoo he’s listed as a QB/WR. I might start him as a WR for a bit of a laugh, as I got knocked into the consolation bracket last week. Not that he looks like he’ll do much, as a rookie QB on the Vikes against the Chicago D in the snow, but still :D.
Alright - pride is on the line here. After ripping off eight in a row to start the season 8-0, I lost 3 in a row, then picked it up to end the season at 10-3. Our playoffs are two weeks for each round, I’m down by 7 going into week 2. I need one flex player from the following:
Adrian Peterson
Rashard Mendenhall
Tim Hightower
Scoring is non-PPR standard. Peterson has a no-name 3rd string QB handing him the ball. Mendenhall has seen decreasing production each week, and Hightower is emerging on a team that has zero fantasy upside it seems. I’m actually leaning towards Hightower against Carolina. Thoughts?
I’d go with Hightower for the exact reasons you state. I’m starting him myself this week. Beanie Wells seems to be lost and Carolina’s run defense is putrid. I’m hoping that means good things for Hightower.
Yeah, I’m considering doing this as well. My league counts passing TDs as 6, so having two QBs feels like bringing a gun to a knife fight. Am I crazy for benching Mike Williams (TB) and starting Webb in his spot? I’m the #1 seed, so I’m playing for more than laughs.
I personally think it’s incredibly cheesy to exploit an ambiguous position listing to start a player at a position that he’s clearly not playing.
In a 2 QB league, start Tebow or Grossman as the 2nd QB? Only playing for middle of the pack consolation round in a 16 team league.
I’d start Tebow I think. Probably a rushing TD, what the hell. Close call though. Rex is boom or bust.
Actually, I really don’t know. I’d have to think long and hard about that one.
So in a league where I have Andre Johnson/Calvin Johnson/Dwayne Bowe and Terrel Owens, I was going to sit Owens. Figured his outburst means he’ll be out of the game plan, Cleveland has been good vs receivers lately…
But he seems to be highly rated in projection lists. I guess people are predicting Palmer will rally around him and he’ll still be as productive as ever?
Would you start him over Bowe (possibly without Cassel) or Johnson with Stanton throwing to him?
Would I be crazy to start Tim Hightower (against Carolina, giving up 64% more to RBs than average) vs Adrian Peterson (against Chicago, giving up 38% less to RBs than average) with Hutchinson out and no QB? I guess the QB thing is a wash, since AZ won’t have one either.
Peterson had like 26 yards last week, Hightower is getting 75% of the carries and had 148/2.
