Yeah I decided august 5th as the day to autodraft. Yet Mouthbreather brought up a good point. For some reason Yahoo has yet to list the rookies on their pre-rankings. If they do not do such soon I can delay the auto-draft. I figured is better to have a somewhat set day for me to run the auto-draft. It is not set in stone.

we now have all 10 slots filled. So, if you did not get in sorry blanx.

Quick question…
Do we only draft the players we need (no backups), and then get replacements off waivers?
In other news, I really think Ryan Leaf is going to put it all together this year. I sure hope no one beats me to the punch and drafts him in the 1st round!

I have myself all lined up to embrace the magic that is Akili Smith. Apparently, he spent the entire off season working with priests and has God on his side. Word out of camp is that he can now run a 2.5 40 and can throw the ball 110 yards and knock a flea off the back of an airborne fly. Really.

Quick insider Tip: Boomer Esiason is leaving the broadcasting booth and is headed to St Louis to compete with Warner. I think he’ll win, and he’s definatley worth a first round choice by one of you guys.

You are all pathetic, but more on that in a minute.

jk You end up with 20 players after the auto draft. Obviously you cannot start all 20 of them. These are your backups/bye week warriors, trade bait, etc… You can also at any time drop or pick up players off waiver wires of out of the FA pool.

Just do it 2 days before their next game, it takes two days to clear waviers and have the switch final.

A. Smith? Boomer? Leaf?

I think Smith is underrated, he sucked because he was thrown into the QB spot on a real shitty team and had his confidence crushed. I suspect in a few years he will become a damn fine QB in the NFL. Just not this season.

R. Leaf. He is 3rd string, right were he needs to be, thrown in a similar situation as A. Smith (see above). Mr H can work his QB Guru magic on Leaf, and Leaf can learn and mature and not thrown to the wolves. In a few years if he stays course and grows up. He can be a starter again in the NFL.

Boomer? He was good, I remember when he came off the bench in Arizona to start 6 games in place of K. Graham and did a mighty fine job. But he is long in the tooth. He is not even on my draft board.

Now the QB to watch out for is Jake Delhomme of New Orleans. I watched him start his first game (under Ditka) and slaughter Dallas with suspect WR’s. He has been awesome the past two years in preseason. If Brooks goes down, I can see Jake playing at a very close level to A. Brooks level of play.

Training camp starts tomorrow!

I’m opening my fantasy football league for online play. I have an NFL site, and I really liked how it worked last year, so I’m expanding the existing league with an Internet division. We will have 12 or 16 teams depending on how many sign up.

The scoring system is posted on my website under the Fantasy Football 2001.

You can join by emailing me. Sorry about the hijack; but if your league is already full, I was offering an alternative to those who can’t sign up, and anyone else who wants to play.

No prob steelerphan. We had two ro three last year from all the doper participation.

of course I am in two already so I think a third would be a bit much.

Yahoo now has rookies included.
When’s the draft?

I do believe sometime on the 5th. Remember, no bet is safer than taking Jon Kitna in the first round. This year he puts it all together.

I just checked the draft order and found out I am drafting last.

That must mean I won the league last year, right? Right?
Oh well, all the sweeter when I charge to the title.

I would just like to give all you suckers one last chance to beg for my mercy before drafting begins. My Team Will defeat ALL.

If things go according to my plan, this will be my team:

QBs : Quincy Carter, Chris Redman
RBs: Tony Richardson, Ricky Watters
WRs: Chad Johnson, Corey Bradford, Donald Hayes
TEs: Kaseem Sinceno, Jed Weaver
DEFs: Carolina, Houston
Ks: Jaret Holmes, Owen Pochman
RUN FOR THE HILLS. I WILL DEFEAT ALL.

:frowning: This autodraft must have messed up.

Instead of Tony Richardson and Ricky Watters all I got was crappy Shaun Alexander, Anthony Thomas and Duece McCalister.

I demand an investigation.

I got ** 4** quarterbacks!

Anyone want Chris Redman or Quincy Carter?

My receivers rule, but I think my running backs will end up spending more time on their backs than the Raiderettes.

Great, I also got Terrell “Crystal Knees” Davis.

Too bad this isn’t 1998.

OK, being serious now-- Teams that look tough from here:

I don’t really see any weak spots on Osip’s roster.

If snowflake Freddy Taylor decides to put together a year like he is capable of, The Roses are looking VERY tough. Of course, since I got Dominck Rhodes late, I will be putting the voodoo hex on Edge’s knee, so this will hurt the Roses.

Expats may make some noise. I wouldn’t be crazy about having to rely on GHearst as RB2, but he also got Trung. If Faulk goes down Expats will run away with this league.

I am happy with my team. Getting Shaun Alexander, Anthony Thomas and Duece Mac 1-2-3 is fine with me. Also, I really like the value of Thomas Jones in round 10. He should cover nicely for each of my 1-2-3 RBs bye weeks. Plaxico and Terry Glenn to compliment my RBS is decent. I had them at WR 13 and 12, respectively. Defense is weighted so high in this league! I’m glad I got one out of (PIT/PHI/CHI). I think those 3 Ds are going to pay some serious dividends to their owners. Also, I am happy getting Shannon Sharpe in the 8th round, but I may have him higher than most. He is ~ TD 5 for me.

Yeah, because Trung has been the model of consistency and health in the NFL.

Well, in the 3 games he was featured in last year, he had 504 total yards from scrimmage and 4 TDs. Those #s can ride my fantasy bench anytime.
Plus, he’s a RB in the St Louis system. Shit, I could probably rush for 800 yards there and 6 TDs there.

God does my team look good!!!

Seriously.

I had a hell of a time finding the Fantasy Football section on Yahoo—ever think of putting up a link guys??? (Talking to Yahoo, not my fellow Dopers.)
Brett Favre, Isaac Bruce, J.J. Stokes, Emmitt Smith, Jerome Bettis, Warrick Dunn, Az-hakim, Ricky Proehl, Doug Flutie and the Bucs and Ravens defense.

Of course I also have James Allen and Maurice Smith, neither of which I have **ever ** heard of.

Ah well, what can I say except:
BEWARE THE BUNNIES!!!

:smack: 3 kickers! Including 2 with the same bye week. Off to the waivers. Frankly, I think Zereoue has more promise than Canidate, because Bettis could go down and if he does they still have that great O-line. Hearst will do fine as my RB2. The Niners spend a lot of time playing in front.

Watch out for David Boston. He’s a staple of all my fantasy leagues. Every game he gets a shitload of yards and a TD or two. Smith, Booker and Troy Brown give me, IMHO the best receiving corps in the league.
