The Who played a gig in Tahoe last night.
Have you seen Vince Neil recently? I think the only touring he’s doing is Dunkin’ Donuts grand openings.

He played at our local county fair a few weeks ago, after Lynyrd Skynyrd cancelled due to a band member having emergency heart surgery. They played a snippet on the news, and he’d obviously been costumed in such a way to make it less obvious on first glance that he is seriously overweight.
The Ramones 14th studio album was called ¡Adios Amigos! (1995) and the tour was a farewell tour. BUT they did play in the Lollapalooza festival(s) the summer after their tour ended before playing their final show on 6 August 1996.
In my book, that counts as a farewell tour that really was, because the Lollapalooza thing was a festival and not a Ramones tour. And their final concert, billed as such, really was the last time they played together.
“Not only is it the last show of the tour, but - it’s the last show we’ll ever do”. Well, Bowie didn’t say ‘The last show I’ll ever do’.
Rush’s farewell tour was (at least so far) final. While they might play one-off shows occasionally, I think due to various health issues (such as Neil Peart admitting that he can’t keep up the insane drumming he’s known for, and doesn’t want to shortchange the fans) they’ve announced that they’re done touring as a group.
The Judds had a farewell tour and meant it.
Didn’t Garth Brooks do a farewell tour a few decades ago? And he actually meant it, at least in the near term.
The Eagles recently had a Farewell 1 tour, which was obviously tongue-in-cheek.
Warren Zevon released an album The Wind just prior to his death (literally, like a week beforehand). He had a terminal lung cancer diagnosis and knew all along that it would be his last artistic statement and that this would be his farewell.
I don’t know if he did any kind of live performances in the months ahead, which may have been a little weird and perhaps a little macabre. But it was fairly well known that he was dying.
Mezzo-soprano Christa Ludwig (born 1928) toured in 1993-94 as a series of farewell recitals/opera roles (her last appearance at the Metropolitan Opera was as Fricka in “Die Walkure”) and has kept off the stage since, giving master classes.
Iimagine it would be more common in opera since vocal quality is so important
