Baseball thug? Are you talking about the fire hydrant guy? I think he was a linebacker. . . (American football player)
Too much Adderal can also make you frightened and paranoid. Malvo wants to be the only one SuperMarket King trusts even as he pulls the strings.
He almost strikes me as someone with an avenging angel delusion. He seems to want to find and kill bad people. He also wants to profit personally, if he can.
I don’t know how spoilery it is - it’s not like Red said “And I heard that next week, we see a red ice scraper enshrined in Oliver Platt’s office.” The scraper is on clear display in this episode, and a similar red scraper was on display in the original film, so what was spoiled?
I saw the (potential) connection right away, but it could turn to just be a (heh) red herring.
Just saw E3: properly into act 2 now and the cop duo (plus daughter, plus father/waiter) is finally teamed up. Onwards unto the investigation/s!
Big week for Malvo; we knew he enjoyed creating mini dilemmas for people to resolve and that he found that entertaining. I think, this week, we also got a sense of including himself in that – why else make such a ridiculous cctv drama of abducting the gambler. In fact, why risk cctv detection in the hospital emergency room when talking with Lester. Malvo seems to enjoy playing with his own fate as he enjoys watching people resolve his little dilemmas. Also, another example of his humour again (couldn’t you get a smaller room) to remind us he has dimension.
It now seems Lester’s pellet did go undetected at the hospital but it must surely still play a role. I wonder now Lester has a taste of revenge (from both his wife and Hess) he might just become emboldened.
Atm, to me the immediate curve ball looks like it’s coming from the new chief. Knowing Lester from high school is a nice cover story but there’s something else going on (presumably to do with the gangster guys from the big city).
I started a thread in the forum “About This Message Board” and I asked if it was necessary to have one thread for each episode and stated that I would prefer one thread for the entire show.
I did that because I accidently made a post into the wrong thread - the wrong episode.
Here is a link to that thread. If any of you would like to be heard on this issue, please feel free to express yourself here:
I’m enjoying the series not so much for its plot but for its characterisation.
The plot (such as it is so far) is full of inconsistencies or things that don’t make sense, but I’m enjoying the “feel” of the movie I think it’s accurately capturing.
What I am finding a bit of a head scratcher is how openly Malvo operates and deliberately makes a memorable impression on people, yet seems to avoid being caught.
I mean, he’s on CCTV abducting a guy who was later found frozen to death in his underwear in the middle of nowhere, there are at least half a dozen witnesses who can say he came into Hess’ business to size the guy up, he threatened a police officer and a postal worker, and I’m sure if Molly takes the CCTV pic of Malvo to the hospital, the nurse can ID him in a second.
I like the character but the way he keeps getting away with what he does is stretching the bounds of plausibility, even for a Coen-inspired TV series.
However, I am enjoying the series immensely so far and am very pleased there’s only a few days delay on it before it airs in Australia on Free To Air TV - a nice change.
