A)I’m Running With The Devil theory. I mean, so far they’ve kept the supernatural out of it, but enough people mentioned it before and today he made that comment about the Garden Of Eden. So they’re acknowledging it. Maybe he’s not the actual devil, but will have some kind of devil like qualities.
B)The thing about the Novocaine in his hand and mouth, that reminded me of this, I can’t be the only one who thought of it.
Who is the person, in witness protection, that Malvo was trying to get to?
It sounded like a former partner of the other dentist. I just assumed it was another job of Malvo’s that wasn’t really any of our concern (WRT this story). It was just a way to get him and Lester to bump into each other.
More importantly, why didn’t Malvo kill Lester in the elevator (or at any other time in the show). What’s his reasoning for keeping him alive. He [Malvo] doesn’t seem to want anything from him and he’s just sort of a thorn in Malvo’s side.
Yeah, if Malvo wanted Lester dead he could have shot him as he ran out of the elevator.
I’m also not sure why Lester was compelled to confront Malvo so aggressively.
He could have shot him before the doors even opened, when he shot the other three people. Instead, he ‘let’ him get away and then chased him all the way back to Minnesota.
I think that was sort of a “I’m not going to let you bully me any more” thing that came with his new wife and his new hair and his new clothes and his new award and a little bit of liquid courage. If he ran into Hess that day for the first time he probably would have punched him in the face.
He was just riding a little too high.

The timing at the diner was perfect! Malvo walks out, Molly walks in the back door and the two FBI agents walk in the front as Malvo sits in his car. Beautiful choreography. I was worried that Molly was going to arrive and find her Dad dead though.
And now maybe Bill will see that Molly’s the smartest one in the bunch!
Possible. He said that he calls once in a while and may have used the word ‘family’ in that sentence. I wasn’t paying very close attention at that point.
I honestly assumed that’s what was going to happen. Either she would recognize him and the three of them would arrest him (on what grounds) or she’d get there too late. But I was nervous the whole time she was driving up. Someone did a really good job editing that scene. No one is listed as “editor” there’s ‘dailies producers’ and ‘assistant editor’. From this episode, at least one of them came from American Horror Story and if I had to guess it was that one that put together this sequence.
How did the Las Vegas Police know Lester was a possible witness to the murders?
Malvo is a dentist when he’s not a hit man?
The Garden of Eden line was pretty heavy-handed.
Yes, I also thought he said it was his brother.
It was the other dentist’s brother that was in Witness Protection. Malvo was on another job and had been working the dentist for six months with the hope that he would find the brother and collect $100k from the mob or whomever. He was almost there until Lester screwed it up.
It was a necessary plot development.
Malvo is not a real dentist. He became a dentist to get at the other dentist’s brother.
Still confused as to how the Vegas police knew he was a witness. Was it possibly reported that he was seen leaving the bar with the group? Or did Lester, in the moments after the elevator shooting, get scared and report it but then regret he made the call and deny everything?
Malvo and the murdered dentist were partners. The dental office knew that Malvo and the murdered dentist travelled together to Vegas. So did the travel agent and the airlines and the Vegas hotel. It would not have been difficult for the Vegas police to learn that Malvo and the murdered dentist were together that night.
If they couldn’t put Malvo in the elevator with the murdered dentist, they certainly could have put him in close proximity with him all night long.
So, naturally they would want to talk with Malvo and would be highly suspicious of him since he left after the dentist was murdered.
As for Lester, he was seen talking to the murdered dentist and Malvo when he was at their table. He was well known by everyone in the room since he had publicly received the award.
By the way, that was the point to his receiving the award. It made his face and identity well known to the entire crowd.
When Lester left the hotel abrubtly, the cops knew something was up with him and it was natural he would have been at the top of their list of people to talk with.
Either that, or Lester’s stupid blabber-mouth wife would have told the whole world everything about their vacation. I’d be surprised if she didn’t tell a whole bunch of people he had woken her up in the middle of the night - even though she told Molly that was her idea.
If you ever break the law, you don’t want to be married to an imbecille blabber-mouth woman like that!
That’s what I really don’t get. The only way they’d know that is if they have him on camera. If they have him on camera, they would have just arrested…except that he was gone before they even knew it happened. In Vegas hotels there’s cameras in all the hallways, that’s how they know it’s him. They called Bimidji told them what’s going on. Obviously, they left out some key details. Next week we’ll see the pictures of Lester getting off the elevator with the bloody corpses and Malvo in there with him. Bill won’t be able to deny the connection anymore.
I don’t think it was. We’ve been discussing it, most people haven’t given that any thought. Most people that haven’t given it any thought still won’t pick up on that line.
Back when Dexter was on, during a specific season something was going on that everyone seemed to think was super obvious. To me, it was only super obvious because we sat here and picked each episode apart. It was super obvious in a ‘the clues are there if you look for them way’ but if you just watch an episode and forget about it until next week, it’s not obvious and you’re in for a big twist at the end. I think that’s the same here. People will go back and re-watch this and see those clues that they dropped. The Garden Of Eden line, the name (MALvo), the goatee etc.
Bill is not smart enough to see that Molly is the smartest one in the bunch. He is a moron and will remain a moron. I just hope that he will be revealed and either killed or fired in the finale.
I’m still hoping that he screwed up by telling some random black kid the whole story about Tahir so that some random black kid figured it would be a good deal to pretend he was Tahir. If that ever becomes known, hopefully it will be enough to get Bill the Doofus fired or at least demoted.
Imbecilic blabbermouth? The devoted wife who lied to protect her husband when questioned by Molly, only to be sent to her death by the coward? I don’t think so.
Sure, but I think it would be pretty hard to fake being a dentist.

By the way, forgetting all the other reasons, there is a very good chance that the Vegas Hotel elevators had security cameras installed.
My apartment building has security cameras installed in all the elevators.
If there were cameras in the elevator, they would have caught Malvo killing the three people and Lester being a witness.
That is a highly possible reason the police figured Lester was a witness.
