Farscape show and Peacekeeper Song question

Odd question here, but that’s what this board’s for, no?

I’m a belated fan of the SciFi channel show Farscape - I’ve started watching it now that they have started rerunning all the old episodes late at night.

Lately, I’ve also heard on the radio the song “Peacekeeper”, by the Buckinghams. Now, the first thing I thought of when I actually listened to the lyrics was Farscape - the themes and descriptions of Peacekeepers seemed to fit right in. Odds are good that it’s simply because both the song and the show have an ironic take on the role of Peacekeeper forces in general, so there’s probably no connection.

Nevertheless, the connection sticks with me vividly, so I’m asking - does anyone have any evidence that there was a conscious connection on the part of the songwriters with the show? To the best of my knowledge, the timeframe would be right. The song first aired after the show had been on a few seasons.

Also, a throw-away comment from a radio DJ leads me to ask a lesser side question: Is a reunited Fleetwood Mac also using this song? I’m not up on what Fleetwood Mac is doing these days.

Anyone? Anyone?

Bueller?

(crickets chirping)

I’ll take that as a “no”.

Well I never watched Farscape (and have no idea what it is about) but I do listen to my local Classic Rock station that plays the song. From what I have heard (sorry no cite) from the various DJs is that the song was written a few years ago (3 I think). I remember this being mentioned because the DJ was explainintg that it was not a “political anti-Iraq-war song” but a relationship song. This was around the time the Dixie Chicks were getting all that slack.

Also, I have always heard the song mentioned as the new Fleetwood Mac song from their new album and not The Buckinghams.

I’ve watched Farscape from the first season and read far more fan commentary about it than I’m completely comfortable admitting to. I haven’t run across any mention that there is a connection.
