Hadn’t thought of that but clever you caught it. Since I’ve been sleeping alone lo these last 15 years I don’t even think about the ahhh…downwind sequelae.
Am I the only one who looks for posts from MetalMouse to find out people’s nicknames? He even identified that I have 4 different nicknames. Not sure if there’s an origin story attached - I’d have to look at my posting history to see what transpired when I first dipped my toes into the MMP.
We have bits of blue sky today, so the Sahara dust has cleared. Supposed to drizzle today, which will help clean up the air. As we haven’t driven anywhere since January 13th, the car is safe in the garage and we don’t have to clean it.
Need to get moving before it rains. Rather go for a walk while it’s still dry out, especially since it’s only a few degree above freezing.
Need to do bank and tax paperwork, and start thinking about garden stuff. Snow drops are already blooming, so spring’s around the corner.
My motivation level for all of this is rather low. But not doing it is increasing my stress level, so that should help motivate me.
And since past self already made lunch, which is our main meal of the day, I don’t really have to cook today. And there’s leftovers as well. Now that’s a goal I think I can keep. ![]()
Happy Sunday!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 43 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 61 and partly to mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is virtual deheathenization and havin’ a N.O.L. of steak, sallit, twice baked N.O.T., and rolls. That shall be followed by nappage and our favorite past time, sloth. Sounds like a good plan for the day to me!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s grey and murky outside today, the weather app says “Today, Mother Nature has decided to take a delicate, cold piss on you” and promises me 1C/34F up to 2C/36F mostly cloudy with light rain/snow. If I change the setting to ‘no profanity’, I don’t get a message at all. There are options for moderate/occasional profanity but really, what’s the point? You’re having it, or you’re not!
Boo baked beans in our house require making toast, heating beans, putting toast on a plate then adding grated cheese, then beans, then a squirt of brown sauce.
Last night we were up late watching films and drinking wine, today I have no plans at all until it’s time to make dinner tonight. Tuscan chicken, I think. I made pizza pasta on Friday so there are leftovers in the freezer ready for Tuesday (grocery shopping in the evening so I want something quick afterwards).
Poorly leg is poorly again, today I am medicating with ibuprofen and strong tea in the hopes I’ll be able to sit a bit more comfortably later. Hot bath first, then a bit of stretching and then it’ll be time for lunch. Fried egg sandwich today, that’s what I feel like.
I awoke to the sound of rain on the roof, but it has now switched over to snow. The temp is above freezing and since the ground is already wet, I don’t expect much to stick on paved areas. And if the weather channel is to be believed, it will be mostly rain, then stop just after noon, and we’ll have sun. So much of 3-5" threatened earlier.
BooFae - brown sauce? Does that have an actual definition or recipe? To my mind, it could indicate anything from beef gravy to BBQ sauce to chocolate syrup!
Not that I would make beans on toast - I’m not that big a fan of baked beans. Once in a great while, I crave them, but having had some, the craving subsides for months or years. Kinda like with hot dogs.
Daughter may come over today (or maybe tomorrow) to help me move the area rug from the dining room to the family room. FIL is very likely to trip over it if it stays where it is. Heck, I’ve nearly tripped over it myself. Until then, I’ve got 3 plants in the guest room that need serious pruning/clearing of dead foliage. And I need to tidy and organize the guest room closet so I can put away the stuff that’s accumulated on the bed and make space for the inlaws to put their stuff. I’d like to get a chair in there also, but space is very limited. Maybe a stool? Mainly because the bed is kinda high - too high for a normal person to sit on while putting on shoes.
So that should be today’s plan of action. Along with knitting and binge-watching some more. And I just looked out the window - the grassy areas are starting to look white. Dammit. Stoopit snow.
Yeah, yeah, Happy Sunday.
As soon as I spotted Boofae’s mention of brown sauce, I knew there Would Be Questions- it’s a specific substace, literally called ‘brown sauce’. Brown sauce - Wikipedia I rarely partake myself, but it’s pretty common over here. In both senses ![]()
We have a gentle dusting of whiteness. I may go out for a quick walk in it- just to the shops or something over lunch break, as I’m irking. The forecast says it may keep going all night and tomorrow, so maybe we’ll get enough to play in. It should make the muddy park look pretty, briefly, anyway.
Whether you put the beans on the toast or adjacent is a matter of preference. DW likes hers in a heap between the two halves of buttered toast. I like mine on top.
Cheese is also an optional extra. We use grated cheddar, but I am sure sliced would also be good.
over here ‘brown’ sauce is usually HP - other brands are available.
I bet I’d like brown sauce!
We got a couple more inches last night, and it’s STILL coming down. This “lake effect” is some serious juju. Also, it’s a whole 7 F on the thermometer. Did I say yesterday was my coldest day so far? Make that today.
Ninety minutes of accumulation. We could have 4 more hours of this, if the forecast is to be believed.
Morning all. Expected to sleep in today after yesterday exertions, instead was up at 7am, so we’ll see how the day goes. Sunday paper has been rescued from the cold (35F) and damp, and dinner will be at the Longhorn steakhouse in a few hours. Other than that not much planned for this Sunday.
I used to have a list of all the MMP’ers names, but it’s out of date. I’ll see if I can put something together.
FCM, glad in-laws are coming up, I missed the note, are they staying indefinitely, or just for a few weeks?
shoe, stay warm. Lake Effect and Wind Chill Factor are some of the first words learned by young’ns up in the Great Lakes region of the country.
boofae, I have been to England so I’ve heard of brown sauce, but it’s ingredients remain a mystery, so thanks to Nut for helping out.
red, goodnight Gracie. Sixteen is a real good run. And sounds like Nelson still has a long run in him.
nellie, re: vacuuming, don’t know if it did any good but I like the way you think…
BBBoo, enjoy the day grand-child wrangling and Super Bowl Watching.
flyboy, y’all not a vegetarian, are you???
Sunny, glad Akiko has a boyfriend. I presume one or both of them have been ‘fixed’, so occasional unplanned ‘dates’ don’t produce ‘by-products’.
OK, enough hearsay and innuendo for a Sunday Morning. Bath needs to be taken and body need to be made presentable for going out to eat. All y’all take care.
Apparently it’s still up in the air - at least till after FIL’s appointment tomorrow. BUT if it does happen, it’ll be for about 2 weeks, then we’ll take them back so they can get their second shots.
FCD called and told me his mom woke him in the middle of the night when his dad fell - in his closet! No, we don’t know why he was in the closet in the first place. This further tells me they shouldn’t be living alone - what would they have done if FCD wasn’t there? I’m not being snarky when I say it’s like dealing with rebellious teenagers.
Snow continues, and it’s starting to stick a little bit on the sidewalk. But if it ends as promised and the sun shows up as promised, I won’t have to shovel. We shall see. Meanwhile, I’m going to deal with my spider plants for the next hour or so…
Thank you all for the baked beans-toast-brown sauce tips. I’ll hunt around for some ‘brown sauce, having a brand name helps! It makes a hearty, nutritious lunch with so little effort and I like being a little quirky. Lots of variations of beans in my store so I can experiment some.
Just looked up at my big expanse of dining room bay window and it’s snowing again. Piffle, piffle, piffle. Already cleared off my car and shoveled the front sidewalk last night, 12 hours ago and here is more. I have to admit it’s the slow, floaty, fluffy, Christmas movie pretty stuff. I’m just weary of the shoveling part-my old bones tire easily.
Same here. It’s our coldest wind chill spell so far this winter and it will be for a few days. Winds -10-18 degrees. My Harriet granddaughter is unfazed. She’ll want to strap on her snow pants and play out in the yard today, which of course Grandma will so. I don’t have snow pants but I’m well padded under my jeans, sort of liked a hibernating bear. Chubby has to be good for something!
Me too. I’d be figuring out how to vacuum the walls.
Off to shovel my way to the car and Hattie’s.
affei<—I typed “Up, caffeinated, and sheveled” and this is what came out. Apparently the keyboard and washer are in league with TVCTPMO. It is raining, and I had to drag “Princess Pretty Paws” out to do his business. He’s now loudly dreaming in the other room. zzzZZzzz…woop woop woop…ZZZZzzzZZZZ…woop woop woop
I’m caught up on chores, so I can watch hockey, and that other minor sports thing today.
You wacky furriners and your bean toast! ![]()
I’ve been up since o’dark thirty. I took Polar out for walkies since the fence isn’t done and somehow managed to fall down. I broke the fall with my hands and my knee. I was highly embarrassed and my hands definitely sting. I am sure my knee will develop quite the bruise. I am not even sure what preceded the fall; I was walking and my left ankle rolled a little bit, but I somehow couldn’t recover and down I went. ::
I still need to get my miles in, but I need to clean up the cuts on my hand first. Jeebus. When did I become such a klutz?
Not me. I didn’t know he did that. As it is, I’ve figured out several but I don’t know everyone’s.
Brown sauce is lovely on all sorts of things. I have both HP Regular and Daddies in the fridge at all times.
Bright, sunny day outside, so I think I’ll devote the next 12 hours or so to staying inside and doing sweet fuck-all. Since I positively loathe tackleball, I’ll be searching out things I haven’t watched on DVR/Streaming and see how far I can get into the stack of books next to the recliner that Tango sits on when he wants to bat at my ear. It’s a 3 day weekend for me, so there isn’t any pre-work anxiety to deal with either.
May whatever team you are rooting for/have money down on be successful in their efforts to defeat the criminal/cheating/lucky other team!
That raises a whole other can of worms. Who keeps sauce; brown, red, yellow, whatever in the fridge?
Yeah, I keep mustard and ketchup and butter in there too. Raised that way. Besides, the cabinets are already full of hot sauces!
shoe, the east side of the lake bears the brunt of lake effects snow. That’s why Buffalo gets hit harder than Detroit. Stay warm!
metal mouse, Nelson has long lived genes from his chihuahua grandfather as well (~20 years). I’m hoping he goes to at least 16. I can see a lot of Gracie in the two of her pups that Sis kept and even Nelson and another grandson that Sis also kept. She’s a pretty special dog. When Mom was living, she was on Mom’s lap whenever she was in her recliner. When Mom passed (ironically, 6 years ago to the day when Gracie will go), she attached herself to my Dad. She’s bee a lot of company to him. I kind of worry about Dad once she’s gone.
Ouch taters! I hope that you’re not too sore in the next couple of days.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do a delayed KP. Not much on the agenda but the usual Sunday chores and making a couple of dog sympathy cards (not only for Dad, but my boss just lost her beagle of 17 years this past week).
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Just finished hanging our prints in the living room - I declare decorating in there to be DONE!!!
FCD just called - he said almost no one in Ocala wears masks, and the British variant is starting to take hold down there. Stupid, stupid people… Have I mentioned how glad I am that we no longer live there??
OK, 'nuff said. Time for lunch.
