Fashion advice, shoes.

What color shoes would you wear with this dress?

I kinda like it and am thinking about ordering it, but I just went through a friggin’ nightmare trying to find navy shoes that weren’t “accountant pumps” to go with another kick-ass dress I bought.

I’m wondering if I could get away with some sort of nude shoe or maybe these?

Black patent leather sling-backs.

hmmph. Some of us happen to be accountants. Or nearly so if we ever take the damn exam.

Seriously-something strappy, but I’d have my doubts about the linked shoes without being able to try them on and see them while wearing the dress. How about a strappy sandal in a light beige/very light tan-perhaps the nude you mentioned. Or something with a little more pink in it-not too much though, because you don’t want the shoes to look pepto pink next to the blue dress.
Hell, what am I thinking? I have enough trouble putting together work outfits that sort of look decent together most days.

I was thinking more along the same lines as you, Sue. A pair of nude (or maybe very light taupe, if you can find them) strappy sandals. Maybe something like catch-me-f***-me, Joan Crawfordesque shoes. (You know…sexy ankle straps…)

Got to have the heels, though. Nothing less than three inches would do justice to that dress, which I love, btw…

I say good choice…

Aperfect combination, something I would love to see my wife in:)

What is the dress for? If it’s a wedding or something, then I’d go for something more conservative like taupe, but if it’s just for a night of looking fabulous, I totally think you could pull off something a bit more flashy. But I think the rhinestones on those linked ones are a bit too big for a shorter dress. As the dress is varigated a little, I don’t think you have to be too concerned about matching to color, as the color changes on the dress itself.

It’s adorable!

Cool dress! I have a pair of silverish open toed sandals that might work with it… the dress I wore them with was periwinkle–I must be colorblind cuz I thought it was lavender. They have like 3 inch stacked heels, looked kickass, but hurt my feet like hell!

I don’t know about that bauble thing going on along the front of the shoes you linked. Although I guess it would depend on what kind of jewelry you were wearing with the dress. Still, I like Lsura’s “strappy” idea, in something like the color of the afore-linked bauble shoes. Maybe even a little lighter, with an opalescent thing going on.

The real reason I replied, though, was to say that the brown shoes in the frame to the right with the caramel-colored stripe down the back are doooooope. If I were a drag queen who thought he could get away with brown shoes, I’d totally go for those.

Yeah, I thought about something silver and strappy, but sometimes silver shoes can be WAAAAAAAY overboard.

It’s for a retirement party I have to attend that is sorta semi-formal, but not, IYKWIM.

Hey, we suffer for our beauty!

FWIW, the navy shoes I ended up with (for the other dress which was VERY retro looking) are these. Only in navy.

Hey, Lux, those shoes are black, with the camel trim. Now you can be a drag queen without having to wear brown shoes.

With my limited fashion sense (this coming from a girl that wears army fatigues and boxers…) I agree on silver being overboard. These are matte silver, almost grey, not too flashy. I think they’re from Unlisted; I got them really cheap at like Famous Footwear or something.

Sue, I liked your shoe choices, myself. I like the Coach ones best, though. What the hell, go with those, if you so desire. Totally snazzy to have that Hollywood “My-Shoes-Exactly-Match-My-Dress-And-I-Mean-Exactly!” look. I mean, you can always buy a couple more jazzy blue outfits to get the most out of the shoes, right?

Excellent. Off to practice “Second-Hand Rose!”

Lower left hand side, nude color. Nude goes with every dress color, even black, and makes your legs look longer. Colored shoes act like a stop sign to the eye, but with nude your stems appear to go on forever. I learned this from a book by Marlene Dietrich, and it is advice you can’t go wrong with.

I bought these shoes recently and they are comfortable and gorgeous. Reasonably priced, too.

Oops, maybe I should have said left hand page, lower left corner. The sling back sandels. (And by the way, nude sandals are just about all I buy, and these are the best I’ve found in years.)

You mean the gold ones?

Yikes, I don’t know. I retired myself out of 4" heels about five years ago.

Holy schnikeys! I’d be 6"1’ in those shoes!

Mrs. H is an expert on shoes in particular and fashion in general. She likes the dress and says that the shoes match well.

Haj

I think these are great. http://www.delias.com/o1/tmpl.d/p00168.epl

But, I am a teenager, so I don’t know if they’re to teenybopper or what.

Hmm…It won’t let me link directly to those shoes. Push the dressy shoes button and they should come up. If not then click Georgette Shoes.
