Fast Food "Nastyness"—featuring Shiva418

I didn’t say she willfully ignored this behavior; I was referring to anyone else who may have, unlike her.

My comments that I have made before were made before such facts were presented. I have apologized already for any bad feeling from these comments. These comments are obviously inaccurate now, aren’t they?

I don’t know where I called her immature. I didn’t think I did…?

FWIW, I apologize for offending you. Also, please don’t misinterpret my tone as condescending and patronizing; I mean to express nothing of the sort.

Good GOD, Monty, I’d hate to see what your blood pressure must be like.

Perfectly normal, Guin.

You sure, Monty? The guidelines have just recently been revised. Systolic pressure 120 and above OR diastolic pressure 80 and above is now considered higher than normal and should be monitored by a physician.

It would probably be more accurate to take it after you’ve been in the pit a while.

Well, since I didn’t hijack the thread (my comment was related to the actual subject of it), and the person with whom I was engaged in a heated exchange and I have settled the matter here, and then Guin made a driveby for no rational reason, I don’t see where there’s any thing that would be cause for an increased blood pressure. But go ahead and feel free to open another thread on Pit & Pressure if you’d like. Might even be interesting.

spooje, I never said that I condone tampering with people’s food. If you’ll recall my very first post to this thread, I said it was “despicable”, actually.

My problem is with you painting a picture of a kitchen full of mad scientist looking cooks running around all willy nilly, fucking with everyones food while cackiling manically. I’d love to hear if you’ve seen that.

No, there is no good reason to mess with someone’s food. There is no reason at all actually. But for someone who thinks tampering with someone’s food is okay, they generally recognize the need for a reason to tamper with said food. They don’t just tamper with it for shits and giggles.

I also agree that alice and monty have resolved their little “situation” and should be left alone.

The little drivebys after the fact remind me of vultures honing in on the aftermath of a particularly bloody fight.

Actually, this visual kinda reminds me of the old place…

Well, no one who worked there was actually mad-scientistesque. They were, in fact, horribly down-trodden. Many of them were stuck working in that horrible place with little or no chance of ever getting a better job. Despite some really gross attitudes regarding the unsuspecting public, I still felt sorry for a lot of the folks.

I can’t imagine facing 20 years of working at a place like that with little or no hope for respite.

In any case:

  1. People shouldn’t mess with other peoples food.
  2. Those other people should be nice and respectful anyway.

That being said, overloading a fish sandwich with tarter sauce does seem somewhat harmless. However, I really like tarter sauce which may be colouring my view.

IMO fast food is already nasty, why else do McD’s chicken nuggets smell like crap in the bag and smell the same when they slide out of my toddlers butt?

OK, I’m coming into this thread a little on the late side, and I might kill it, but… I am curious to know what the food service folks on the SDMB see as being picky, annoying, or overly bitchy in the way of customer behavior. If my order is wrong, I will probably alert the wait-person and send it back to the kitchen to be fixed, e.g., “I ordered this without tomoatoes. Could you please get me another salad?” . But ONLY if it’s something that I can’t fix myself. If the tomoatoes are big chunks and I can just pick them out, I’ll do it, but if they’re chopped up into tiny pieces and I can’t take a bite of my salad without getting a dreaded tomato, then I’ll send it back. I’m always nice about it, though.

Would this get my food messed with? I don't think it's too much to ask that you get what you order, as long as you're polite about getting it.

Because “parts is parts.”[sup]*[/sup]

Well, I suppose it depends on how demented your server is, but I doubt it.

Sending stuff back because it’s not right is perfectly OK. You said you were nice about it, so I wouldn’t worry too much.

Basically if you treat your server the way you would like to be treated, nothing bad will happen.
