Comparison time: people are upset at this woman because she got involved in a tragedy and made it about herself. Posters here are upset at VCO3 for starting a thread about the situation and (deliberately) making it about himself. That just bothers people.
VC03 is getting piled on because, as is typical with him, he insulted Tania Head in terms that are offensive to people who are not Tania Head. If he’d stuck to insulting her simply for being a fraud, this pit thread would have gone a lot better. Instead, he pretty clearly linked being fat to being a loser (Which is going to offend any fat people reading. And we are on the internet here, so that’s a large demographic in more than one sense.) and linked having a Southern accent to being stupid, which is naturally going to piss off anyone reading here from the South. (Which, despite the stereotypes, is also a large demographic.) That last bit is particularly egregious since, as near as I can tell, there’s no evidence in that article that Tania Head is, herself, Southern.

wah wah wah I have a major southern accent and I don’t think i’m exceptionally dumb. I make fun of southern people all the time and just have to not let it get to me when people assume this. Fat people who arent losers just need to remind themselves that they arent losers. everyone should be a little less sensitive

I tried to get all worked up about it, but then I stopped and thought “am I really offended that she did this”, and it turns out, I really didn’t care.
Okay, thought experiment time. Let’s say that Tania Head was black, and in the course of pitting her, the OP called her a “dumb nigger.” Should any black people reading the OP just remind themselves that they aren’t dumb, and let the slur slide? Or would they be justified in calling out the OP?
