Father & Son BOTH sport stars?

I need a little help putting together a fairly comprehensive list of current sports stars whose dads were also big stars (not necessarily in the same sport).

I already have

Archie/Peyton Manning
Bobby/Barry Bonds
Calvin/Grant Hill
Bob/Brian Griese
Bobby/Brett Hull
Ken Griffey Sr. & Jr.
Al Unser Sr. & Jr.

How many more can you come up with? No race horses, please!

Um, who is that Johnson kid who plays for Minnesota? His dad played pro ball for awhile.

And the Earnharts.

In auto racing:
Jacques/Gilles Villeneuve
Damon/Graham Hill
Kyle&Adam/Richard/Lee Petty (3 generations)
Christian/Emerson Fittipaldi

Stretching the definition of “star” a little too far, maybe:
Kobe/Joe Bryant
Moises/Felipe Alou
Todd/Mel Stottlemyre
Tim&Mike/Don Hasselbeck

I’m stretching to find a father/daughter one… or a mother/son which is proving to be impossible.

However, you might take:

Muhammad Ali/Laila Ali

Adam Petty was Kyle Petty’s son…so that makes it 4 generations

In baseball there’s a three-generation family, all of whom were All-Stars:

Ray Boone 1948-1960
Bob Boone 1972-1990
Bret Boone 1992-present

Ken Norton Sr. & Jr. (Don’t know if Jr. is still playing, but he was as of last year).

Can probably put Eli Manning in with Peyton and Archie now.

Bob/Bret Boone

Jack/Gary Nicklaus (Gary is on the PGA tour, but not really a star)

Tony/Anthony Dorsett

Terry Metcalf of the St. Louis Football Cardinals and his son Eric, who played for the Browns, Chargers, Falcons and now the Redskins.

In hockey Gordie Howe played with his sons Mark and Marty in the old WHA. When the WHA folded Marty played a couple years in the NHL but I don’t know if he was a star or not.

Here’s a page full of baseball father/son combos:

http://www.baseball-almanac.com/fam2.shtml

Not on the list (which seems to stop at “L”, unless there’s a second page someplace):

Jose Tartabull
Danny Tartabull

Would Phil and Chris Simms count? Or would this be premature, since Chris still plays college football?

I only know baseball, so:

Tom/Ben Grieve
Cal Ripken Sr/Jr, and Cal Jr’s brother

Tim Raines’ son is currently playing ball I believe, but it’s too early for him to be considered a “star” maybe.

Actually, Christian is Emerson’s nephew.

A few more racers:

Mario/Michael Andretti
Bobby/Davey Allison
Ned/Dale Jarrett
Al Unser Sr. & Jr.

Frankie Dettori is the son of Gianfranco Dettori, a top rider in Italy and the UK in the 1970’s.

Peter Scudamore, now retired following a highly successful career as a jump jockey in the UK, is the son of Grand National winning rider Michael Scudamore. Peter’s son Tom looks set to continue the family tradition.

Thanks for the answers given so far… now a follow-up question. Is there someplace I can track down a listing of all fathers and sons who have (independently) each gotten themselves on the cover of Sports Illustrated?

The most recent example is Chris Simms (Phil’s son), quarterback of the Univ. of Texas Longhorns. He got on the cover a few weeks back, though I’m sure he wishes he hadn’t!

More auto racing:
Dale Earnhart/Dale Earnhart Jr.
Bobby Hamilton/Bobby Hamilton Jr.

Brent and Rick Barry, nba.

Kyle Rote
Kyle Rote Jr. (soccer)

VogueVixen:

Cal Sr. never played in the majors, just coached and managed.

And the brother’s name, BTW, is Billy.

And Billy never attained anything close to the status his older brother enjoyed.
