If you have a homepage and would like some space on fathom.org contact me ok? I can’t take nine million people but if you have a fairly low-bandwidth personal site I can probably host it for you. Sorry, no business sites (I do have paid hosting for that though)
Actually $35 gets you your own domain for 2 years. www.totalnic.com
And yes, I can host domain names and subdomain names for a fee (that is my bi’niz, afterall. See www.werbica.com for info)
Anyway, I wanted to clarify something… I am not looking for ONE person who wants free hosting, I’m offering free hosting to anyone who wants it (unless the response is so overwhealming that I can’t do it) for personal homepages .
That “totalnic” link evidently doesn’t exist anymore.
And, for those who don’t know, (sorry to correct you on your own site, Opal, but you won’t get any business that way. :)) the real address for Opal’s business site is: www.webica.com

I looked at it & frankly Im not sure just what they do & how they do it. Sure you can register there for up to two years for $35.00. Whatever that means. What you do when you want a web site with the name you registered is another matter.
I went to WebJump, gave them the name I wanted, THEY registered it & then gave me a web site with 25 megs, free setup, free web site, cgi, etc. Of course, I have to see some ads but thats okay for what the site is about… Cost $70.00 which I paid to Internic at the Internic site.
shrug I registered www.camgirlsring.com through TotalNIC and it’s up and running just fine. Last spring the net went through a change… until that point Network Solutions (Internic) was the only company that could regsiter .net, .org, and .com domains. Now there are several companies that can do it.
Why pay twice what you have to for no reason? Oh, and the registration process is easier than Network Solutions’ is. Having done many of them, I’m glad to have the simpler, cheaper option now.
The same way I do any domain, we put a dns request through. Handy, web hosting is my BUSINESS. I own a WEB HOSTING COMPANY. What I DO is host people’s sites (usually domains). i.e. when a client of mine gets a domain, they pay ME a $50 setup fee to get their site up and running.
My point is there is no difference at all in registering a domain through Network Solutions (Internic) or TotalNIC except that through Network Solutions you pay twice as much. If you are paying someone else to register a domain FOR you, tell them to register it through totalnic, or do it yourself (it isn’t hard).
I just realized that emphasis via ALL CAPS might have portrayed anger/irritation and I wanted to make sure that I cleared up any confusion: I was JUST using it for emphasis, no upset feelings here!
Yeah, my life, is all caps or no caps. I have to read to use the phone and television, of course. Naturally, caps look like shouting but my tty types in all caps all the time.
