Favorite Cartoon Theme Song/Music

No one has mentioned the theme from “Mighty Mouse”. Used to love that. Of course the reprehensible movie by Jim Carry did put a bad taste in the mouth about all things even vaguely related to Andy Kaufman. But it was fun and catchy long before those two attempted comedy.

I echo with ghusto both “Supper Chicken” and “George of the Jungle” and add “Tom Slick.” Neither the cartoons nor the themes took themselves very seriously. Much less anal time.

I take it you’re talking about the original JQ, made in 1964. Yes, that theme was fantastic. It was the first song I thought of when I read the topic.

… but one which I still can’t get out of my head:

*Masked crusaders, working overtime,
Fighting crime,
Fighting crime!
Secret raiders, who will neutralize,
Soon as they arrive
At the site!
Tracker’s gonna lead the mission;
His Spectrum’s got such suuuu-per viiii-sion.

Muh muh muh muh, MASK!
Is the mighty power that can save the da-a-a-ay,
Muh muh muh muh, MASK!
No one knows what lies behind their masked chara-a-a-ade,
Muh muh muh muh, MASK!
Always riding hot on V.E.N.O.M.'s tra-a-a-ail,
Come see tha laser rays
Fly awaaaaaaaaaaay!*

Dunno what the original Japanese was like, but the English lyrics are:

*We’re off to outer space
We’re leaving mother Earth
To save the human race
Our Star Blazers!

Searching for a distant star
Heading off to Iskandar
Leaving all we love behind
Who knows what dangers we’ll find?

We must be strong and brave
Our home we’ve got to save
If we don’t, in just one year
Mother Earth will disappear!

Fighting with the Gamelon
We won’t stop until we’ve won
Then we’ll return and when we arrive
The Earth will survive
With our Star Blazers!*

(Good god, no, I don’t have them memorized. I’ve got a sound file of the theme.)
