All cats are beautiful, of course, and yours is the bestest prettiest kitty in the world. But if you had to choose, what would be your favorite coat color?
I have a strange fondness for white animals and brown animals. I do, in fact, know someone with a solid-brown cat. I don’t know why I like those two colors, specifically, but they make a pretty kitty.
I love those red-orange tabbies (“marmalade”) and also solid-colored calicos. (The tabby-marked ones look … busy.) Either bright and deep or dilute calico; both are lovely.
I like white cats (especially white cats with two different colored eyes) and black cats. I like calico cats. I like gray cats whose fur looks like it’s tipped with silver, like my Katya. I like cats with coloring like Abyssinians. I like Siamese cats (all point colors). I like tabbies with spotted tummies.
Something like 99.99% of calicos are female, but orange cats are something like 80-90% male. I have a female orange cat and know several others.
I have a fondness for black and gray cats. Tabbies are kind of common, but I like really unique patterns on them. I don’t really like white ones, especially because their hair is harder to hide.
Somehow I always manage to have a tortoiseshell.
Somewhat related: I have a cat who would be a tuxedo cat, except she is grey and white. I keep thinking there should be a name for that, but I don’t know my formal wear very well. Do any of the tuxedo cat people know?
I don’t think that I really have a preference. My grandparents had Siamese when I grew up, and I love Siamese. It’s not just the colorpoint coat pattern or the blazing blue eyes that I love, though of course I find them very attractive, it’s the Siamese personality. Currently, I have one adult female meezer.
In the past, I’ve had black and grey cats. I think that black cats can look very dramatic.
After seeing EddyTeddyFreddy’s pics, though, I got a craving for some orange kitties. The last time my husband and I went down to the Humane Society, we were both charmed by an orange boy. However, it wasn’t the SAME orange boy…my husband thought that a two month old orange tabby with white markings was just the cutest thing he’d ever seen, outside of a human baby, and I fell in love with a four year old orange male who had been released by his owners. So, we brought them both home, where they are living happy lives. Sapphire (the Siamese drama queen) was Not Pleased, especially with the kitten, who Takes Liberties with her. She’s pretty much accepted both of the boys now, though she still hisses and swats at the younger boy, Charlie, on occasion, when he wants to play with her and she’s had quite enough of him.
I like the cow-cats that have random black and white spots. I also like the tabbies with random patches of different colored stripes or the ones that are all white except one striped ear or a striped tail.
I like all kitties, pointed ones are probably the front runners for favorite.
Right now I have: #1–red tabby point Siamese mix #2–orange tabby, little white bib, little white spot on tummy #3–brindled, mostly black tortie #4–brown mackrel tabby, no white
I have a seal point Ragdoll, a black DSH and a tortie DSH. I am partial to tabbies since I grew up with two of them, but my dear ragdoll is the most beautiful kitty in the world, I think.
I always thought the dilute calicos were specially pretty, and the tuxedo kitties with white whiskers. There’s something very striking about the contrast of a black face with white whiskers, especially if there’s a little milk dib on the lip or chin. Though I think our younger kitty is an unusually handsome fellow. Sadly, we don’t seem to have any pictures of him as a grownup, but here he is as a snugglebaby.
