Favorite color purple: sign of a disturbed mind?

I like to think I’m somewhat sane…maybe I get a pass because my love of purple comes from being raised by the Kansas State U. fans from hell? Or maybe that’s even more disturbing.

Actually, now that I think about it, probably - my mom has a “Powercat” (god, I hate that logo) border in her BATHROOM. I wish I were kidding.

I adore purple, it’s my favourite colour ever. I don’t wear it all the time, but my jewellery is mostly amethyst-based and I’ll choose a purple appliance/toy/whatever over other colours if it’s available. I’m strange. I don’t know if I’m disturbed, however.

Also, that test link thingy tried to install Yahoo! toolbar when I tried to have a look. That’s not nice.

My younger brother’s favorite color is purple, and he’s probably the nicest guy I know. Plus he’s smart, hard working, responsible, funny, humble, and has a ton of friends. So no, I don’t think liking the color purple is a sign that someone is “messed up” (unless my brother just happens to be an exception).

Now, an obsession with purple (or any color for that matter) might be a sign of some issues, unless the person in question is five years old.

My wife’s favorite color is purple and she is a very intelligent and stable person. I myself am “color-deficient” and have trouble distinguishing between deep blues and deep purples… that kind of thing. I would therefore say I am neither a fan nor opposed to purple.
My wife takes great pleasure from this.
“Which one do you like?”
“The blue one”
“I don’t have a blue one.”
“This one here.”
“Umm…it’s purple”
:smack:

Hmmm. Am I the only person who finds that, in adulthood, the question of ‘favorite color’ seems pretty meaningless? My favorite color for sweaters is different from my favorite color to paint my walls, which is also different from the color I think is best for a sofa, etc.
I just don’t find that I have a color I think is “the best one ever”.

That color test described me perfectly. Nothing horoscope-esque about it.

Exactly. That’s why I have a tendency to say my favorite color is black; it seems a nice practical color for most things. Now if you mean, “what color should we paint the house?”, then that’s what you should have asked!

I feel the same way. I have favored colors for wearing, others for decorating, etc. And they can and do change.

There is a big difference between having a favorite color and buying everything in that color, though. For some reason when people cross the line from thinking a color is pretty to insisting everything in their lives be that color, it does seem to be purple more often than others. If not purple, other secondary colors like green (particularly lime green) or orange. Sometimes pink. You don’t often hear of someone obsessed with blue, for example.

I couldn’t agree more. I love purple, etc.

There are more shades of purple because it’s a strong color and holds it’s identity longer. “Lilac” is not thought of as blue or “plum” as brown. They are shades of purple.

Unless you are like the Emporer of Rome or something, most men should probably not wear purple.
