Favorite Day of the Week

Thursday. It’s not quite “weekday”, it’s not really “weekend”. It’s whatever you want it to be. Think of Thursday as Friday by another name, or think of Thursday as just another day. It’s up to you.

Dan O’Neill, who wrote and drew the “Odd Bodkins” comic strip, referred to “Tuesday, After Lunch” as that mystical time of the week where everything got done.

Ya just gotta keep your eye on what’s really important!

For some reason, Thusday, not unlike it’s related holiday, Thanksgiving, is brown.*

Maybe it’s because of Thanksgiving?

Anyone else have this notion?
*and no, I don’t have synesthesia.

Wednesday is both sushi day for lunch and my regular night out at the bar.

As far as regular plans go, it’s a highlight of the week for me.

I picked Thursday because there’s the anticipation of the weekend coming up. I also like Monday because it’s an opportunity at a fresh start. Wednesdays blow goats - it’s too far away from the start of the week for a fresh start; too far away from the weekend to have that to look forward to.

Huh. Thursday and Sunday are taking the lead over Friday. I wouldn’t have expected that.

I completely disagree. Tuesday is my best work day. I’ve gotten over my hangover or whatever troubles me on Monday, I’m still full of vim and can attack my work with clarity and drive. By the time Wednesday comes, I’m already calculating how many more bottles of booze I can buy if I eat ramen for the rest of the week.

I think Fridays are losing the vote to Satuday. Even though it’s the last work day before a nice weekend, it’s the day where you’re really counting the minutes until quitting time.

I’ve never minded Tuesdays. Monday’s not so much either, except for the change in gear from a weekend. It’s Wednesday that drags, 3 days in… two more to go.

Thursday is better than Wednesday, but you really just wish it was Friday already.

And Sunday is nice, but Monday looms like a storm cloud on the horizon.

Saturday is the king.

I’ve never had THAT much fun on a weekend, other than not having to get up and go to work. For the past many years since I became a SAHM, Mondays were the best. Family out of the house to work and school, I got the house to myself. Now that I’m a SAHW, I STILL love Mondays. I get the bulk of my work for the week ahead done on Mondays.

I have no objective reasons to point to for why I voted for Friday. It’s just always been a subjective feeling inside me, the way it feels when it’s Friday. I don’t know how to explain it, there’s just something about Friday that feels good to me. It is the one day named after a goddess.

Saturday. I work Sun-Thurs night, so while I enjoy Friday, I’m still sleeping through Friday afternoon. Saturdays are the one day I get to rejoin the real world, waking up in the am and sleeping at night.

Tuesday.

Saturday–nearly everyone’s available then. I kinda expected Friday to be the winner, though.

Sunday is too busy, or else it would be up there, too.

I picked monday because everyone in the neighborhood goes to work and I stay home for my peace and quiet.

I actually like Saturdays, but not for the reasons most mention. It usually isn’t my day off, but at least a third of the time I work day shift Friday and then midnights Saturday. So I have 32 hours off, 23 of them fall on a Saturday. Either I have family time with my son and hub, or I will work Saturday 7-3 for overtime and make some big bucks. The other third of the time I do have Saturday off, which is nice.

The third of the time that I work Friday nights, Saturday is not my favourite day. then it is a hellish indurance test to try to sleep with my son home and the neighbours vaccuming, and the street noise, and the daylight…

Friday is when I’m most tired, because I haven’t been able to sleep in to a decent time for almost an entire week. Hugely overrated day. Still better than the middle of the week because it offers hope at the end, but it can’t compete against the weekend.

Saturdays and Sundays are both great, and I could see a vote for either. You asked me in September, which means we’ve just started back up with the NFL, so Sunday gets my vote. If you asked me over the summer, it probably would have been Saturday, with the promise of two full free days ahead.

Mondays are a bit underrated. Sure, you’re back to work, but you’re well rested both mentally and physically (Unless you have small children. Sorry!). Tuesday through Thursday? Now you’re just nitpicking over who gets the honor of crappiest day.

Wednesday is new comic books day. No contest.
