Favorite fake product names?

We’ve played poker a couple of times with him since, and no one’s brought it up. Unlike the rest of the group, he would NOT have a sense of humor about being the butt of a joke.

And, yes, I was excited when I tried Islay Storm. Mostly because I didn’t want to spend more than that on a prank, but also because it was almost like sipping Talisker (but only try it if you like your Scotch poured through smoldering peat). I recently refilled my bottle of Finnerty’s™ with it.

You sold me. Thanks!

I ordered a glass of Talisker once because of its use in the BBC radio show Cabin Pressure. Odd that the Beeb would mention a real brand so prominently, but I guess it had the right connotations of fancy and expensive for what they wanted in the show.

I don’t generally care much for scotch, but it wasn’t bad.

That’s why I chose the Scotch that in reviews was likened to Talisker!

Even now, when I sip it, I think of that old guy yelling “Where’s my Talisker?”

George Carlin had a routine for product names when birth control pills go over the counter. There was “Mom Bomb” and "Inconcievable!|

Wierd Al Yankovic had a commercial in his movie “UHF” for a store called Spatula City

He also did a bit on names that were mismatched, like “Mutual Fidelity Deli” and “Tom and Ruth’s Bank.”

Not a product but a store. Lois from “Malcolm in the Middle” worked at Lucky Aide. “Where the L stands for Value!”

Bojack Horseman had a ton of cleaver animal puns for business names.

  • Probably most prominent, the fancy restaurant the characters frequent (and Bojack owns for a while): Elifino.
  • The news network MSNBSea, where all the reporters are sea creatures.
  • The characters are often seen flying on Sow West Airlines and AmeriCrane Airlines. And JetMoo appeared in at least one episode.

There are a bunch more that appear in the background in various scenes, like Beast Buy, a store called Pony Up, and if you Google it you can find a bunch more.

Army Of Darkness: “Shop smart, shop S Mart.”

“Cleaver animal” = “Beaver”? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:  :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

The Wesayso Corporation from Dinosaurs.

I prefer Veridian Dynamics - they have great commercials.

A brand of pregnancy test on Community was called “You Know, Girl!”

Bushwood Country Club from Caddy Shack has continued to tickle my inner 12 year old to this day.

Not sure if favorite is quite the term I would use, but Upload’s Oscar Meyer Intel (think 3D printed brain) is quite clever.

In the Baby Herman/Roger Rabbit cartoon Somethin’s Cookin’ that opens Who Framed Roger Rabbit the brand of the oven is Hotternell, which is pretty obviously a pun on “Hotter than Hell”, but is less obviously a shout-out to the 1945 Tex Avery MGMcartoon The Shooting of Dan McGoo, which takes place (as a sign tells us at the beginning) in Coldernell, Alaska

Of course, in the Whedonverse there’s Blue Sun, purveyor of a wide variety of products.

The Kamikaze Recall

Hellzapoppin’ had Olsen and Johnson working at Miracle Pictures, whose slogan was “If it’s a good picture, it’s a Miracle.”

I had to look it up: It means, “Flavor of Loneliness.”

Nice. Perfect for Liz Lemon.
