Filet mignon, medium rare, baked potato with sour cream and chives, salad. Dessert: creme brulee
While I like a good Fillet, Ribeye, and Porterhouse, my favorite cut would have to be: New York Strip. Medium-well of course.
Was I the only one to notice, no vegetarian meals?
I’m a meat and potato kind of girl. Usually I’ll have a vegetable or a nice salad with it.
Sushi
No really I mean it.
I can remember when it would have been spaggetti-o’s.
But right now my favorite meal is definatly sushi. Last time I even ate the octapus. If I could afford it, I wouldn’t eat anything else.
Mmmmmm…wasabi.
I can name all kinds of different things I’d like to call my favorite meal. I’ll just name a few things I’ve had that I can put down as favorites:
A dinner I had a few months ago at Lucques–one of the few “real” restaurants in L.A. Started with a butter lettuce & arugula salad with roquefort & candied pecans; grilled veal cutlet with spring greens; and an apple galette for dessert. Salad & main course served with Vignionier (sp?) Calvados with dessert.
Another dinner, this time, it was my birthday and we were at Patina: Ahi tuna tartare; John Dory with braised cabbage, applewood smoked bacon & grapes; foie gras with broiled butter pear & concord grape emulsion; braised beef with red wine reduction, gnocchi & chanterelle mushrooms; Dark chocolate mille fuille.
At home: chicken & shrimp paella cooked on the grill, with a loaf of good, crusty bread & olive oil, and a pitcher of homemade Sangria (using Sangre de Toro as a base.
My favortie meal is still our traditional Thanksgiving Dinner. Not that I discriminate much when it comes to food!

Collard Greens/Asparagus/or some other green veggie

I was doing just fine until I hit your post. MMMmmm. I’m at a loss after that one.
I’ll remember to check my dinner selection with you before my next evening out on the town.
I’ve always felt that ordering that perfect meal/drink combination correlates well with the intelligence and sophistication level of said person.
Shrimp Alfredo with mushrooms
Salad w/ Honey Mustard dressing
Crusty Bread w/ butter (to get every bit of sauce)
Iced Tea
Dessert:
Chocolate Cheese Cake
Strong coffee w/ Half-and-Half and lots of sugar
MMMMMM…
Raw tuna.

And Godiva chocolates for dessert.
Yum, Necros! Nice balance of simplicity and complexity!
Chicken Jalfrezi, Brinjal Bhaji & Chapatis.
All washed down with a nice cold Cobra beer.
mmmm, can taste it now…
I’ll be cooking one of my all time favorites tonight, namely Moules Marinière. This is how you do it.
In a large pot, sauté half rings of onion in some butter, add fresh chopped garlic to taste. Pour half a bottle of white wine (I like Chardonnay) in the pot. Add fish stock and bring to a boil. Add a net (that’s how they sell them here anyway) of scrubbed sea mussels, and simmer until they’ve opened (those that don’t open are bad, throw them out). To round it off, add some cream to make the broth yummy. Sprinkle over some chopped parsley. Now eat them with good bread and the rest of that bottle of Chardonnay.
For dessert I’ll be making a blueberry pie, which I will serve with homemade rich vanilla ice cream. Now who wants to come over for dinner?
Jerk red snapper with bananas and grapes. This has replaced my favored fish wrapped around banana and cooked in a white wine sauce recipe.
Also abalone or snow crab. I guess it’s a toss-up among these three.
Add a simple salad and then fruit for dessert.
I’m sure I’ve mentioned this a time or two, but I do like to spread the merits of Stroganoff Rice-A-Roni.
Pho.
I have strong feelings about pho. Pho is not just beef broth with noodles. A food writer for the NY Times quoted a Vietnamese man who described it as his country’s contribution to human happiness. No exaggeration.
A properly prepared bowl of pho is a complex symphony of bewitching tastes and aromas. You get the savoriness of beef, the spiciness of fish sauce and a hint of cinnamon, and the lovely flowery aroma of anise. I do NOT commit the sacrilege of putting bean sprouts in mine - they make the broth taste like dirt! Or, worse yet, order chicken pho!
It is so difficult to find good pho! One day, I will go to Saigon and hunt down the pho vendors. Ah, to dream…
My favourite meal…
Fried chicken livers.
Wine: Soave Bolla.
Chicken souvlakis.
Grilled asparagus brushed with lemon and butter.
Greek salad (no lettuce) with generous amounts of quality feta.
Roasted potatoes.
Pita bread with tzatziki and houmos for dipping.
Baclava for dessert washed down with strong coffee.
Add one beautiful woman and a secluded corner table and I am all set.
A bushel of steamed blue crabs, a case (or two) of ice-cold Sam Adams ale, and unlimited hush puppies and corn-on-the-cob. Add a few good friends and six or seven hours to eat it all.
Man, I’m drooling.
