The Forbidden Zone - made by Richard Elfman, the first musical score by Danny Elfman (then of "The Mystical Knights of the Oingo Boingo, whose work making the movie turned them into Oingo Boingo), and featuring Susan Tyrell and Herve Villachez as the King and Queen of the 10th Dimension. Absolutely amazing, absolutely insane, and in a perfect world it would have a Rocky Horror-sized following.

I, too, have seen this, and I have to say that any movie that features a naked princess wielding a whip–
–well, I lost my train of thought there, but I was going to go on to speak cleverly and favorably of naked princesses wielding whips, I’m sure.
Wizards and Fantastic Planet were pretty huge in their day.
A no-budget drag movie called Girls Will Be Girls that’s one of the most LMFAO films ever made. Add it to Netflix- you’ll be glad you did. The main character is Evie Harris a 70s Joey Heatherton style never-quite-was who now lives in her Hollywood home with a roommate/assistant (Ms. Coco Peru- the “it burrrrrrrns” drag queen from Trick) where she constantly watches her Irwin Allen-like disaster flick ASTEROID (here’s a clip). A new roommate Varla, who happens to be the daughter of Evie’s dead arch rival, falls in love with Evie’s “masculinity impaired” son and hilarity ensues (really does).
An opening scene of Evie’s morning ritual
Amongst the memorable quotes:
EVIE (when asked if she’s ever had an abortion): AN abortion? Please! Coco, I’ve had more children pulled out of me than a burning orphanage.
and
COCO: Your career was on hold ever since you killed that family of four.
EVIE: It was a family of six, I only killed four. I mean, who has a picnic is their backyard anyway?
then later
EVIE: My career was going like gangbusters until that family made me run them down.
EVIE to VARLA: "Back when your mother offed herself…
COCO: Evie!
EVIE: Sorry. Before your mother “passed herself away”, she said…

Gah, boring. Swap in the vastly underrated Get Crazy, starring Malcolm McDowell as Reggie Wanker, and there’s your triple feature.

You see, that could make an interesting thesis subject. I grew up in Montreal, a bilingual city. In the English repertory cinemas, the midnight movie of the 70s was RHPS. In the French ones, it was Phantom of the Paradise.
The local cineplex used to (many moons ago) show “The song remains the same” at midnite a weekend destination lol
Motel Hell
“Meat’s meat, and a man’s gotta eat!”
“It takes all kinds of critters to make Farmer Vincent’s fritters.”
